CPU

Central processing unit (CPU), is one of the main electronic computer equipment, the core of the computer accessories. Its main function is to interpret computer instructions and process data in computer software. CPU is responsible for reading instructions, decoding instructions and executing instructions in the computer’s core components. The CPU mainly consists of two parts, that is, the controller and the arithmetic unit, which also includes the cache memory and the data and control bus to realize the connection between them. The three core components of an electronic computer are the CPU, internal memory, and input/output devices. The main functions of the CPU are to process instructions, perform operations, control time, and process data.

The CPU type:

  • x86
  • X64 (CISC)
  • ARM (Acorn RISC Machine)
  • M68000, M68K (Moto)
  • Power (IBM)
  • Powerpc (Apple, IBM, Moto)
  • UItrasparc (Sun)

CPU main brands are: Intel, AMD, IBM.

  • Intel mainly includes Xeon and Itanium.
  • AMD is mainly Althlon MP, server basic use, commonly used in home computers.
  • IBM is mainly Power, mainly for minicomputers.

CPU history:

CPU development has been going on for more than 40 years. We usually divide it into six stages.

  • ① The first stage (1971-1973). This was the era of 4 – and 8-bit low-end microprocessors, represented by the Intel 4004 processor.
  • ② The second stage (1974-1977). This was the age of 8-bit mid – to high-end microprocessors, represented by the Intel 8080. At this point the instruction system has been more complete.
  • ③ The third stage (1978-1984). This was the age of 16-bit microprocessors, typified by the Intel 8086. It is relatively mature.
  • ④ The fourth stage (1985-1992). This was the age of 32-bit microprocessors, represented by the Intel 80386. Can be competent for multi-task, multi-user operation.
  • ⑤ The fifth stage (1993-2005). This was the era of the Pentium family of microprocessors.
  • ⑥ Phase 6 (2005 to 2021). Processors are moving toward more cores and higher parallelism. Typical representatives are Intel’s Core series of processors and AMD’s Ryzen series of processors.

The main board

The mainboard, also known as the systemboard or motherboard, is the most basic and important component of a computer. The motherboard is generally rectangular circuit board, which is installed on the main circuit system of the computer. There are BIOS chips, I/O control chips, keyboard and panel control switch interface, indicator plug, expansion slot, motherboard and plug card dc power supply plug and other components.

Memory is one of the important parts of a computer. It is also called internal Memory and main Memory. It is used to temporarily store computing data in the CPU and exchange data with external Memory such as hard disk. It is the bridge of communication between external memory and CPU. All programs in the computer are run in memory, and the strength of memory performance affects the level of computer overall play. As soon as the computer starts running, the operating system transfers the data needed to be computed from memory to the CPU, and when the computation is complete, the CPU transmits the result.

The running of memory also determines how fast the computer as a whole runs.

The hard disk

Hard disks are one of the most important memories in a computer. Most of the software a computer needs to function properly is stored on a hard disk. Because disk storage capacity is larger, different from memory, CD. Hard disks are storage devices used in computers that are based on rigid, rotating disks. It stores and retrieves digital data on a flat magnetic surface.

The capacity of a hard disk is expressed in megabytes (MB) or gigabytes (GB). 1GB=1024MB, 1TB=1024GB. However, disk manufacturers usually set the nominal disk capacity to 1 gb =1000MB. Therefore, the capacity displayed in the BIOS or during disk formatting is smaller than the nominal disk capacity of the manufacturer.

Array card

The full name of the array card is disk Array card is used to make RAID (cheap redundant disk array). Disk array is a system that combines several hard disk drives into a whole according to certain requirements, and the whole disk array is managed by an array controller.

The power supply

A power source is a device that converts other forms of energy into electrical energy. Electricity is derived from the principle of “magnetic generation of electricity”. It is generated from renewable energy sources such as water power, wind power, sea tide, poor dam pressure, solar energy, coal burning, oil residue and so on. Common power supply is dry battery (dc) and household 110V-220V AC power supply.

The graphics card

Video card, also known as display card (Video card), is an important part of the computer, undertake the task of output display graphics, for people like to play games and engaged in professional graphics design, graphics card is very important. The display chip of the mainstream graphics card is mainly made by NVIDIA (NVIDIA) and AMD (Ultra Way semiconductor) two big manufacturers, usually will use NVIDIA display chip of the graphics card called N card, and will use AMD display chip of the graphics card called A card.
