My name is Scott. I am a front-end engineer. It has taken me 11 years to realize my career dream, which is:

I should have made a 10-year summary when I worked for 10 years, but my dream was realized one year late, so I have written this summary now. Let’s start from 11 years ago:

In March at that time, I was working as an intern in Hangzhou Iron and Steel Group, Wahaha Group, Coca Cola Company and Tianhuang Teaching Instrument. I also went to a glass factory, mainly to observe and learn the operation mode of automatic control system on the site of industrial production line (my major was automation in the School of Electrical Engineering).
In July of the same year, I graduated and went to the south (my roommate sent me to the school gate in Figure 1). After coming to Hangzhou, I began to learn Java and front end by myself. On September 6, I started to work in Hangzhou Huaxing Technology Building and worked in front end team (Mux.alimama.com/) of Advertising and Technology Department of Taobao (later officially renamed Ali Mom). I stayed in one breath for 4 years and worked in advertising business for 4 years. Most of my colleagues are still with me now, which is also my first contacts circle after I came to Hangzhou.
The main technology stack at that time was jQuery. The first project was a static website – Wantang Academy (shuyuan.taobao.com/), which was mainly the first version, the second version and the third version. I don’t know how many times it was revised later.

This year, what impressed me most was attending the department’s annual meeting and the company’s annual Meeting (Figure 1). We went to eat and play outing (Figure 2). During the weekend, we went to pick up garbage along the North Peak/Laohe Mountain in Hangzhou for public benefit.
I have the vaguest memory of this year. I usually go out to do public welfare activities on weekends, and usually do projects and study.
At that time, the technology stack was mainly YUI + jQuery + Kissy + native JS. I was mainly responsible for the development of some middle and background management systems. The project was quite complicated.

This year, organized many times of the game, to make a lot of friends, the other offices also change to a park next door (figure 3), in May, a trip to xinjiang urumqi, looking for my iron elder brothers together went to the snow mountain (figure 4), at the top of the mountain to eat the lamb pilaf, looked at the starry sky drank the wine, that kind of feeling, forget not to drop for many years.
In this year, I made rapid progress in my work, and gradually took over some large cross-team projects and dealt with mobile terminal business. In addition, I participated in Shanghai HUJS Conference (FIG. 2). I felt that the lecturers at the conference were very good, and I would be satisfied if I could share with them sometime.

This year was the year with the greatest work pressure, especially the continuous overnight overtime and the continuous overnight back on Double 11 and Double 12, which almost laid a trigger for my resignation in the next year. However, this year was also a year of great harvest. One was to buy the house and get the certificate from the Civil Affairs Bureau (Fig.2: After running hand in hand with my college classmates for 7 years, it’s time to take responsibility for my family.
In terms of public welfare, I also went to hui-hang ancient Road and walked for 10 to 20 kilometers, doing public welfare activities to pick up garbage (Picture 4).
When I returned home for the Spring Festival, the airport was snowed by snow in my hometown (Figure 3). I slept on the ground of the airport for two days, which was quite unforgettable. I had a lot of idle time in the airport and seriously thought about my future.
This year, the technology stack shifted to Node.js, and the learning process took many detours. After summing up my experience, I began to record Node.js courses on MOOCs.
The technology stack at that time was mainly: Kissy + YUI + Magix + Brix + Node.js, the project is mainly involved in an advertising template system developed by Ruby, after which the system is gradually fully reconstructed with Node.js. This project has also become a very important product of Ali system, which can be compared with Canva.

This year, in the first half of the year, I worked in Ali as an advertising template for the creative center (Chuangyi.taobao.com/). In the second half of the year, I worked as a co-founder and technical partner in a start-up company to develop a website for renting apartments for overseas students. In order to speed up the project progress at the end of the year, Go straight to California and work on a project with other kids.
The technology stack at that time was mainly: Kissy + Magix + Brix + Seajs + Node.js, later transformed into Angular, wrote full-stack projects. In July and August, I spent almost every night writing code in the middle of the night, drinking beer and eating watermelon to help me out. She broke 130 pounds and hasn’t lost weight since.

In this year, I got 3 million yuan of entrepreneurship bonus from the 5050 Entrepreneurship Competition held by Hangzhou Government, but the government required that a company must be set up in Hangzhou to receive the bonus, so I set up a branch in Binjiang, Hangzhou. I began to be fully responsible for the technology, products and operation of the Branch. We cooperated with the three teams in Shanghai, California and London in remote office, and built the R&D team in Hangzhou little by little. There were two or three hundred Node.js engineers interviewed alone, and the skills of the two partners who joined the company grew very fast.
This year, the office took in a small dog (Picture 1). Several friends around also have dogs, and the most favorite is Corgi (Picture 3: Alpha).
This is also the year when I invested most in starting a business. Even though I didn’t get a single raise in salary for three consecutive years, I was still full of entrepreneurial enthusiasm.
The tech stack at the time was Angular + Node.js + MongoDB, and I dabbled in Python, but only to write house crawlers.

This year, I went to Northeast China for the Spring Festival with my wife (Figure 1: Harbin Ice and Snow World). We decorated the office of Hangzhou Branch with stickers (Figure 2). As soon as the decoration was finished, we were forced to move the office to a new one and brought a vegetable shopping cart to facilitate commuting.
In addition, in the office, took in a cat, this cat, witness the office of two partners before the beginning of the love affair ended.

In the first half of this year, I mainly dealt with various matters related to the company’s financing failure and bankruptcy, and brought my grandparents to Hangzhou and took them to various places (Leifeng Tower, Songcheng…). He visited the city (Picture 1: Song Cheng), finished the decoration of his house (Picture 3), and he was born in his life (Picture 2: At the end of the year, he was invited to the MOOC annual conference, where he watched pole dancing for the first time in his life and had his photo taken with bunnies at a high-end bar in Wukesong Stadium (Photo 4).
Of course, I also completed a major career switch in this year. I joined a start-up company again and began to lead the front end team. There are so many things that happened in this year.
The technology stack at that time was mainly: Vue + React + Node.js + MongoDB, the technology stack was revamped, and the last Node.js course was recorded on MOOCs. Since then, the focus has shifted to building the front end team of the new company. Almost every day to the station to complain, detailed and complex management problems, overtime to 12 o ‘clock at night is common.

I had a lot of business trips this year, to Yunnan, Shandong, Jiangsu, Guangzhou… Vegetable bases around the world learned knowledge related to supply chain, and they also shared a lot in the community this year, such as NodeParty, JTalk, FCC Chengdu Developer Conference, etc. In addition, they co-organized a GraphQL Conference with Coding in Hangzhou.

At that time, the technology stack was mainly composed of ReactNative + React + Node.js + MySQL. This year, I had many ideas on technology, which were basically achieved through the team’s children.

This year, the front end team expanded to more than 20 people, led the team to eat, drink and play in various ways, and went to N places (figure 1 is riding a motorcycle in the mountains near Tonglu). In addition, WE also shared a lot of experiences in the community (Figure 3 is sharing experience in front end management on GMTC), and went to the cloud for sharing (Figure 2: The first meeting with the host indirectly contributed to the birth of the early chat), I took my family to Australia in October, the scenery of the Gold coast was really great.
At that time, the technology stack was mainly composed of ReactNative + React + Node.js + Rust + MySQL. I didn’t write much code in this year, but spent most of my time in recruiting and managing some internal innovative businesses and team management.

This year, early chat achieved a basic break-even, changed a new office, bigger space, directly transformed into a pub, and a bookstore, in fact, two walls, sitting inside, hand can get wine, hand can touch the book, is a preliminary reached an ideal.
Most of the books on the shelves are recommended by the lecturers of the early Chat conference over the past two years.
This year, the main focus was on conference operation, community participation and career planning guidance for front-end children. There was not much code writing, so the tech stack was quite interrupted for a year.
In the first ten years, I did nothing, but the achievement was that I finished the family tasks of getting married, buying a house and giving birth to a baby. I wrote code for 10 years and worked as a manager for 4 years, which could be regarded as having gone through the two paths of front-end career thoroughly.
In 2021, this will be the past year, so far in the past, the biggest achievement is to hold the front-end Early chat conference, has accumulated tens of thousands of fans, there are thousands of paying users, early chat’s official website is also online (www.zaozao.run), all these, it seems to be gradually into the right track.
But deep in my heart, I know very well: the challenges of the next 9 years have just begun, and of course, the wonderful things have just begun.
