The preparatory work
Now that you’ve made up your mind to change jobs, do your homework.
The timing is chosen in gold, silver and silver, because it is convenient to change jobs, and also convenient to transfer and recruit suitable people with the old employer.

Obtain employment direction
Friends who are familiar with me know that I am engaged in server-side development. The development language is MAINLY PHP, and I also have experience in Go language development.

Therefore, I aim at the position of Golang development engineer/head of server development.
I want to work for a company where the server side is written in GO, not PHP and Java.
After making clear the employment direction, my goal will be more precise and the preparation work will be more specific.
Prepare a resume
My idea of a great resume is this:
- Keep it short, no more than 3 pages.
- The key content, the content that impresses people, the content that shows your value and strength must be shown on the first page.
- When introducing your company experience or project experience, be sure to include your achievements, not just your job description. Because performance can move people, performance can reflect their own value.
- Tailor your resume to the company’s needs, rather than sending the same resume to every company. Do not be lazy in this respect, can greatly improve the success rate.
To prepare the interview
My idea was to find companies first, and I spent about a week screening the right companies.
I looked at the following dimensions: company size, industry, salary range, commute time, job description, hours worked, and other positions being advertised at the same time.
Basically in accordance with the above order as a screening priority.
The actual amount of time a screening company spends is probably about half a day, because the goals are clear.
I mentioned a week because I need to keep an eye on this issue for a week in case a new suitable company comes along.
After screening, I have initially selected three companies.
The following is a targeted preparation for these 3 companies, including: resume, job description mentioned technology stack, knowledge points, brush questions and so on.
Detailed preparation
My thinking goes like this:
During the interview, I must take control of the stage, which simply means taking the initiative and not waiting for the interviewer to ask me before I answer.
I try to get the interviewer to ask me questions that I have prepared in advance, or to clarify what the interviewer is going to ask me without waiting for them to ask me.

Optimization of a resume
Your resume should show your project experience; You also need to show the interviewer that your resume is relevant to their needs. Put yourself in the other’s shoes. If you’re an interviewer for the company you’re interviewing for, tailor your resume to what you want to see.
That’s how I optimized my resume.
I’ve also come up with an idea: Create an essay for every single point on your resume that rehearses what I would say if I were an interviewer. What kind of questions will be asked?
The following is a brief introduction of myself mentioned in my resume:
- 6 years of r&d experience, proficient in LNMP development, familiar with Laravel, Yii, ThinkPhp, Yaf, Swoole and other PHP development frameworks;
- I also have experience ingo language server development, and AM skilled in using GIN, SingO and other GO development frameworks;
- Proficient in MySQL and PgSql database; Proficient in Redis cache, MongoDB and other Nosql storage;
- Proficient in K8S and Docker, proficient in DevOps platform;

About the interview
It’s also important to set up an interview after you’ve done your homework.
Don’t wait too long to talk about the right position because you are not ready. If the company hires the right person, you will lose the opportunity.
Therefore, I suggest that you can make an appointment for an interview when you are interested, such as a week later, so as to have an interview opportunity, but also leave yourself time to prepare, in a week, force yourself.
The interview
Make sure you get a good night’s rest the night before. Don’t brush questions, relax, because that’s when you’ve done all your homework.
Just relax and approach the interview with a calm and positive attitude.
Conclusion of my interview: I only met with my favorite company, and did it in one time, and now I have successfully entered the job.
Review the interview
Because I had done so much preparation, there wasn’t much to highlight in the interview process.
In my opinion, as long as I prepare well and show my advantages during the interview, for example, I have solid technical skills, but more importantly, the interviewer can see my initiative and clear thinking to solve problems. I succeeded in making the interviewer feel that I am a person with strong self-drive.
In the interview process, I also encountered some knowledge points that I did not know, but I explained them based on my own experience: although I did not know, but if I were to design, how would I achieve, blah blah blah ~
Finally, I got the affirmation of the interviewer and landed smoothly.
