Recently, the company’s project involves map-related, so I have learned about several big map services in China, and also paid attention to the corresponding public articles. Recently, I found that both Tencent Location Service and Autonavi Open Platform public account published an article about upgrading Javascript API GL. When I clicked on it, the content structure was so similar that it looked like it was written by the same person. I couldn’t help but think of the “copying homework” in school.

As for who “borrows” from whom, I believe you have your own judgment in your mind ~~

[Product Release Time]

According to the product release dates mentioned in the two articles, both of them launched beta versions in 19th and official versions in 2020, but Tencent is one step ahead of Autonavi in terms of time:

Tencent GL beta It was first launched in June 2019 Tencent GL official edition In March 2020
Scott GL beta It was first launched in November 2019 Autonavi GL official edition In April 2020

How’s that? Is there a kind of following in the footsteps?

[Interactive Experience enhancement]

Tencent used 2 3D dynamic pictures /1 2D dynamic pictures /1 static picture to show the upgrade features from different dimensions of “smooth”, dynamic effect is very cool wind, let a person at the moment.

3D stepless zoom, zoom from 18 to 20 levels

Text rendering in real time/collision disappear fade in fade out

Background text can be hidden

Sky-level data vector text annotation

[Improved interface performance]

Both used version comparisons and dynamic data renderings to show performance improvements. Let’s take a look at the official figures:

[Scenario-based function upgrade]

Two basic agreement on the function, just from the point of function show classification, two platforms or different technique of expression, tencent with partial technical points classification Gao Deyong partial function classification, in today’s era of numerous technical articles, estimates that a lot of people and I did not read through the full text but straight to focus, I tend to the latter category.

tencent Dot marking (animation along the line)/Built-in dot aggregation/polygon fill Style, 3D unplug/Polyline/custom raster layer /Canvas Paste map layer/Map Drawing Tool/Distance Measurement Tool
Scott Standard GeoJSON support/vector overlay editor/trajectory animation feature /LabelMarker avoidance

[Personalization and data Presentation]

Tencent specifically mentioned personalization, which makes the data cool and present, allowing developers to fully DIY their personal style, no longer the same.

【 Official JSAPI loader 】

Autonavi launched an official JSAPI loader, which supports Browser and NPM, giving developers a very intimate development experience.

These are my comparisons of the two map platforms that have been upgraded to Javascript API GL. Which one do you prefer?
