What’s it like to work at Tencent

Nevertheless also somebody asks me, how enters Tencent?
Well, I can only say more is luck, now I, certainly can’t enter Tencent.
In the second half of 20 years, I also worked as an intern in netease, staring at huge pressure at that time. As you can imagine, many of my peers are getting offers, but I’m just getting started.
During the six months in netease, I would supplement my knowledge after work and spend weekends in the company to make summaries and write blogs. Fortunately, the sense of crisis has been quite strong, especially in netease such an environment. I am very grateful to myself at that time. Because of my passion, I strive to enter a better company.

Well, let’s start with overtime, which is what people are concerned about.
The overtime management mechanism table that flows out from the Internet shows that “double day off” is indeed a double day off, but “no overtime” is not usually understood as no overtime. Only Wednesdays leave at 6pm, and other weekdays at 9pm at the latest.
Many people have doubts, I can not guarantee other departments, but in our group, it has been implemented!!

How does a day go
I recently started a habit of planning my day, something like:
According to the daily list, do a good job on the time planning, as far as possible to execute, in the evening to do a review. Maybe it’s a way to improve efficiency.
In the morning
I usually get up at 8 o ‘clock, and sometimes I sleep in and go out around 9 o ‘clock.
On the way to the company, it basically takes 50 minutes, and usually attends lectures.
I usually take courses like this, more theoretical knowledge. If the state is not good, will choose to listen to music, watching later zhihu.

Maybe because of the rain today, there are not many people. The company sent out an email earlier that they can work from home (very humane), so I guess everyone works from home.
The first thing to the company, cooking.
Tencent canteen is very good, delicious and cheap. Breakfast is free buffet, there are many kinds of everything, hot and dry noodles, tiger skin chicken feet, sausage powder, and so on.
After breakfast, when I get to my desk, it’s almost 10:30.
Turn on your computer and start planning your tasks for the day.
I didn’t apply for iMac at that time, and I was looking forward to the official iMac office. But I think the current office equipment is good, and a 4K display would be even better.
At noon,
With the morning’s work done, it’s time for lunch
Usually choose to eat in the company canteen, occasionally go out to have a good meal with colleagues. Personally, there are a lot of tastes. There are no dietary restrictions and I still have the habit of eating them. Here is a photo left in the album:
After dinner, I take an occasional walk and return to my desk at about 12:50. At this time, I will write articles, read articles on wechat and prepare tweets for the next day.
But plans change, and sometimes I play computer games with my colleagues as part of my lunch break.
After finishing, will have a lunch break, there are camp beds, sleep up is very cool, than lying on the table a lot of comfortable.
Generally, our group’s lunch break will end around 14:10.
In the afternoon
The main job is to follow up on technical requirements and finish today’s tasks. Sometimes it’s interrupted by meetings.
In my opinion, afternoon is a time of high efficiency, so I will basically make full use of it and try not to be disturbed.
Of course, discussing problems with colleagues is a process of learning and making progress together.
There’s an intern next to me. She’s a girl. She’s really good.
Sometimes, we will discuss bugs and technical problems together, which is quite pleasant. We can communicate and learn from each other.
evening
In the evening, there are snack rolls, which are basically free to eat or you can take them to McDonald’s.
After dinner, he would go out for a walk around the company. Different people may choose to be different, some people will choose to go to the gym.
Tencent will still provide fitness places, and binhai Tower has a good one. But I’m basically not in the habit of working out:
Some people choose to play ball. For example, we provide corresponding playing fields. (Though I haven’t been)
I basically went back to my desk and continued to finish today’s tasks.
After 10 o ‘clock in the evening, I took didi to go back to the company for reimbursement. I went back at 10 o ‘clock for several times. Basically, I had the whole floor, and I could count a few people.

What’s the night like in Shenzhen?
Sometimes, feel very bright, have time to feel a trace of difficult.
It’s all up to you, whether you choose to lie flat or move forward.

A flat description of my general day to do things, you may feel really busy, boring.
In fact, I want to say, not like this, Tencent’s welfare is also a lot, there are a lot of game welfare, including XXXXX, very cool.
The group or the whole team will also organize group building from time to time, and most of them are on weekdays.
The last time the whole group went skiing together.
Not only the play is good, the food is good, the living is also quite good.
Yeah, there’s more to our lives than coding. Such an interesting team, not worth your joining!!
Calm down to think, working in Tencent, can be expressed in several points:
One, too desperately, oneself want more initiative.
That was my first impression. Everyone worked hard.
The first day on the job, I wanted to show off a little, and so on, but later I found that some colleagues would leave late.
In order to keep pace with everyone else, you need to be proactive.
Pride.
This is personal experience, with relatives and friends to say you work in Tencent, also quite decent. Their first reaction might be “Wow, Tencent, big company”.
Ex-girlfriend knew I went to Tencent, follow-up also looked for me several times.
Small benefits from time to time let you earn enough vanity in the circle of friends.
Three, good welfare.

Four, people around more and more excellent.
Competition is still quite fierce, whether it is school recruitment, or social recruitment, come in a large number of cattle, are high IQ, competition and competition pressure is still quite big.
I really appreciate my colleagues’ ability to work, work under pressure, manage and communicate with others.
Good learning atmosphere, good technology precipitation atmosphere in the group.
Let me deeply understand, the more excellent people, the more hard.
Fifth, the environment is getting better and better.
The office environment is getting better and better. I heard that every year there will be various interest associations, sports training classes, carnival activities, shuttle buses everywhere, various convenient OA and so on.
Tencent’s HR and administrative departments have always taken “user experience” as the goal to improve their work.
Tencent canteen is very good, delicious and cheap. All these make me feel that the external conditions are developing in a better and better place.
Six, superiors and subordinates, colleagues are very equal.
There is no strong concept of superior and subordinate here, it is all nickname or XXX brother.
When I talk about problems, I feel that we are all equal.
As a newcomer, if I am in charge of a project at the beginning, people will trust me and trust me to do it.
This I feel quite comfortable!!
If you are a fresh graduate, Tencent is worth coming to. Good colleagues and a good training system will help you grow faster in the early stages of your career.
In short, not to denigrate Tencent, nor do I hope you blindly optimistic view of Tencent’s work, there are happy and unhappy, listen to both sides.
