Octane is raising the level of the entire 3D rendering industry in multiple ways, and they continue to be at the forefront of the **GPU rendering ** revolution. Because of its speed, cost savings, ease of use, and cutting-edge technological advances, Octane is definitely worth a try.
In today’s article, let’s ** explore Octane making upcoming features for better performance and improvements **.
Geographical cut
Geographic cropping is very fast and all done on the GPU. It works very well, and now it can do a lot of very interesting sums of Boolean model operations in the core.
The new Boolean Geometry Shader clipping allows artists to easily create program-trimmed intersection geometry using clipping materials applied to volume, mesh, or Vectron formulas. Compared to a normal clipping operation, The Clipping material of Octane 2021 allows you to use the UV set of clipping material geometry to fill the surface of the clipping geometry with the original material, texture, and shading parameters.
Twice as fast optical sampler
Octane 2021’s new AI Light algorithm reduces lighting and shadow differences in the grid emitter, reduces overall noise during beautification, and improves final frame rendering speed by two times or more.
The new light sampler is twice as fast for AI light and direct light sampling.
RTX motion blur in Octane render is 1.5 times faster.
The RTX hardware is motion blurry, so you’ll see about one and a half times faster. Supports vertex deformation hardware accelerated motion blur.
Major Capacity Upgrade
The most popular quantolink feature will be available in the next version in 2021.
In phase synchronization long volumes, remove the 4x volume overlap limit.
Fixed the issue of invisible light and volume in Octane rendering.
Native USD support in Octane rendering
Another important feature is USD support in Octane, so you can have very efficient USD proxies. In order for Orbex itself to export USD and import it, this will be the core grid format in the Octane exchange, which will replace edge and OBJ and FBX etc.
Major AOV upgrades
Octane Rendering 2021 is a full upgrade to the AOV system, you can create any AOV you want as a shader global texture, you can create object maps, all of which are programmable, much more powerful than what we’ve had before, and great for composition.
You can use the built-in compositing and Octane and create many compositing frames in the core renderer of the IPR window.
Lightpath represents the number of things that are going on in the AOV work.
The Aov driver node basically follows Arnold’s approach and the Aov driver is a great system in terms of Octane.
Stable core and memory core
Noise canceller for CPUS that work on map, but making it work on all platforms also helps when running on older Gpus, and having a lot of heaters or power consumption does cause some instability.
The latest DVD drivers are no longer an issue, we will be beefed up the core memory, they provide better support for Envy links, and the 3090 has billions of primitives that can be installed in the core or NV-Link
Improved memory management for converting images to grayscale, single flow channel when grayscale.
Some of the fixes going into the volume render channel or engine section again have to do with being able to ignore the volume of the focus selector
New AI noise canceller
– Rebuilt AI Denoiser to be twice as good as the 2020 version. New samples of the same number double the quality, so retraining the data set again and improving the volume and spectral noise cancels will only provide good results.
Motion blur improvement
Improved motion blur for texture displacement objects and HDR environments.
New progressive photon mapping
Based on a new kernel called progressive photon mapping (PPM) technology.
PPM is a hybrid kernel that allows you to perform very good caustics and projection mapping, allows you to perform very fast caustics, which is a special kernel in Octane that is designed for very complex light transmission for volume and other caustics.
The advantage of PPM is that it allows you to do the former with a ladder of speed and quality.
It is also used for baking irradiants.
Vectron displacement in Octane rendering
Right now, you can do vertex displacement using osL shaders, but it works with console memory and Gpus, so Vectron displacement basically allows you to do the equivalent of vertex shader game engine shaders on the GPU, and still be very fast.
