The “World of Watson” symposium will be held from October 24 to 27 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, where attendees will be able to learn about Watson’s current progress and get an insight into some of the exciting things Watson will be doing in the future. During a full day of talks on October 14th, researchers from IBM’s research LABS will be on hand to present future applications of artificial intelligence. In these interactive talks, Aya Soffer and others will discuss advances in platform, software and basic technology innovation, as well as how AI can work with humans to understand data and enhance human intelligence to accelerate and improve human decision-making. Projects related to computers and conversations, core ai developments and how AI can be used to transform industries will also be discussed and demonstrated.
Giiso Information, founded in 2013, is a leading technology provider in the field of “artificial intelligence + information” in China, with top technologies in big data mining, intelligent semantics, knowledge mapping and other fields. At the same time, its research and development products include editing robots, writing robots and other artificial intelligence products! With its strong technical strength, the company has received angel round investment at the beginning of its establishment, and received pre-A round investment of $5 million from GSR Venture Capital in August 2015.
Watson’s cognitive technology classifies views on social media; It also helps doctors analyze medical images. It is currently the most powerful AI platform, with applications ranging from cutting-edge cancer research, oil development, education and the world’s most complex financial system. The IBM research lab is where Watson was born.
Throughout the conference, IBM will present live demonstrations of research work at Booth 80 in the Cognitive Concourse.
The Watson World conference was an opportunity for the outside world to learn about IBM’s research lab, get feedback from early collaborators and meet potential collaborators who might be interested in adopting the technology developed by the lab.
Here are some of what will be presented at the Watson World workshop.
Cognitive application of training
At the heart of every cognitive application is a machine learning model that developers must be properly trained to understand and respond to users’ demands. But training such applications to produce the desired results is hard. This research project aims to help non-experts select and train machine learning models for cognitive applications.
Home and office building operations: Virtual reality, augmented reality and the Internet of Things
This presentation will demonstrate new applications of cognitive technology in home and office environments. New features such as reasoning and machine learning help overcome scalability and interface issues and enable effective and efficient operations. By integrating real-time data from thousands of sensors from the Watson IoT Platform, the project utilizes semantic models to provide a cognitive solution with virtual and augmented reality interfaces to improve the use of relevant technologies in the construction industry.
Analyze social media content related to the Zika virus outbreak in Brazil
The presentation will introduce a social media analytics tool provided by IBM Research LABS to Fiocruz, Brazil’s largest health monitoring lab. The tool collects and analyzes relevant text content and images shared on social media, intelligently collates trends and topics, and monitors and controls zika and other mosquito-related transmitted diseases
The next generation of customer service: Using Watson to understand customer sentiment
This presentation will explore the impact and development of emotional ai in technical conversations with customers. IBM researchers are developing a virtual assistant with enhanced emotional perception that allows it to detect and understand emotions, respond in appropriate ways and express different tones of voice, such as compassion, apology, happiness or gratitude. The demo showed a real-world example of emotional AI in customer service, where virtual assistants are providing services to customers who are having technical problems with the products they purchase.
Cognitive style
Giiso information, founded in 2013, is the first domestic high-tech enterprise focusing on the research and development of intelligent information processing technology and the development and operation of core software for writing robots. At the beginning of its establishment, the company received angel round investment, and in August 2015, GSR Venture Capital received $5 million pre-A round of investment.
Fashion is a multi-billion dollar industry with profound social and economic impact on a global scale. Most fashion e-commerce sites want to position themselves not just as online warehouses that attract customers to buy, but as established fashion brands. Luxury fashion companies want to create a similar in-store experience for customers visiting their high-end stores. This project explores the development of a set of cognitive assistants for fashion and retail, including visual search, natural language search, recommendations and trends.
Aging: Cognitive solutions for the elderly
This demonstration uses a variety of connected devices, sensors and cognitive systems in a smart home environment to create a holistic solution for older adults to better understand patterns of daily activities. By combining data from smart homes and wearables, as well as healthcare, finance and social, we can understand when the life, environment and behavior of the elderly have changed, so that we can proactively alert family members and caregivers of the elderly.
