GitHub plans to set up a branch in Paris this week, but the format has been switched from online. One of the bright spots is Codespaces, which offers developers a complete development environment based on cloud hosting.
In fact, GitHub Codespaces is based on Microsoft’s VS Code editor (previously VS Code Online). Both use the same concepts and technologies, but are now integrated directly into existing services on GitHub.
GitHub will be familiar to anyone who has used VS Online or Codespaces. GitHub SVP of product Shanku Niyogi writes:
Contributing code to the community can be difficult. Because each repository has its own configured development environment. There are usually dozens of steps to go through before writing any code. To make matters worse, sometimes you are working on two projects that have conflicting configuration environments. With this in mind, GitHub offers a fully featured, cloud-hosted development environment. Codespaces can launch on GitHub in seconds, enabling developers to instantly contribute to various projects.
GitHub Codespaces is currently in free beta and pricing is unknown after its launch, but Niyogi says it will be similar to GitHub Actions.
GitHub Actions is for computation-intensive tasks. As a reference, Microsoft is currently charging VS Codespaces by the hour and with different virtual machine types.
After seeing the news
So I gave it a try
Access to Codespaces’ page

Found some more specific introductions
- You can immediately open a vscode editor in the code location
- You can run commands to perform the build, test, and deploy operations
- Simplify workflow and automatically commit code
- There are also rich plug-in systems waiting for you
- It also supports night mode, and there are no taboos when and where to write code
- Switch open source projects at will, without any development hindrance, even small white can also play
Finally, it’s still in the beta phase and apply now!
Dapeng, I have applied for Java and JavaScript in two languages. I am waiting for the notification.
