Hello everyone, I am Rong MAO, a programmer. I am majoring in front end and minorizing investment analysis in Ant Group. I have also started to post articles on Yuq to summarize and record.
Graduated from Zhejiang University of Technology in 2014, joined a state-owned enterprise (Zhejiang Daily Media) to do PHP development, followed by a start-up company to switch to full-stack development, and finally came to Ant in February, 20. I have been upgrading the underlying operating system in Ant for one year, and I was lucky to get the opportunity of promotion this year (2021) and passed it successfully, becoming an “🧱 expert”. In the environment of “front-end bitter coil for a long time”, how to become a T-type talent to break through the internal coil, here to share with you some personal experience, in general, some methodology description, not necessarily all right, for light spray.
Why do we inroll?
So what is an inner exam? Today the word inner exam is a cliche, there are a hundred definitions of an inner exam in a hundred subjects. Anthropological perspective, it is called Involution; In political science, it’s called class solidification; In physics, it’s called the increase in entropy of a closed system; In game theory, it’s called the Prisoner’s dilemma; In international politics, it’s called the arms race; In economics, it’s called a negative externality; From a food science perspective, it’s called creative ingredients. So, let’s start with finance and physics.
Financial perspective
From the perspective of finance, if all jobs are plotted into four zones according to the relationship between risk and return, zone 1 has the least risk and the lowest average return, and so on, step by step. In this area, the probability distribution curve of area 2 and area 3 is convex on the top and concave on the bottom, and the average return is higher than the risk cost, so it is not easy to roll. On the contrary, the probability distribution curve of area 1 is concave on the bottom and convex on the bottom, and the average return in this area is less than the risk cost, so it is easy to roll. So why is zone 1 easy to roll? Because the area suffers from over-competition, and over-competition is when the number of people coming into the area vastly exceeds the opportunities it offers.
So why do so many people want to enter low-risk Zone 1? This is also due to the spread of modern education, which emphasizes the transmission of certain knowledge. For example, in mathematics, programming and language, there are standard answers in exams, standard norms in operation, and standard tutorials in learning. Therefore, no pains, no gains, which strictly follows the corresponding relationship between effort and return, and all belong to the field of low uncertainty. So what is high uncertainty? Slot machines, roulette, Texas Hold ’em, when will ants be available? Can investment make money? Can entrepreneurship succeed? These are areas of high uncertainty, where there is a lot of luck, and success in life is often a combination of higher certainty of ability and higher uncertainty of luck. However, students who have been trained in reading exams for more than 20 years have sufficient ability training and have not been beaten by fate for several times. Therefore, according to the principle of path dependence in economics, students trained in the deterministic system will naturally pursue the job in area 1 with higher certainty.
This is easy to understand, most YeWuXing front is more like a preference of uncertainty, reference to the definition of “alibaba front end JOB MODEL”, especially in the P5 / P6 students, daily JOB is receiving planning and demand, drawing page write logic, gather in higher uncertainty 1 area, so the opportunity to serious shortage, It’s hard not to roll.
Physical perspective
In physics, any organization or system needs to obtain energy, information and matter from the outside, and then expend entropy, which is called dissipative structure in physics. This means:
- If your role is always passive, you do what you’re asked to do, no surprises, no surprises, then you’re not bringing any new information to the organization, and you’re definitely getting more and more involved.
- If you are constantly mentally challenged and need your organization to constantly energize you and push you to do your job, you are bound to become more and more distracted.
- Anyone who can continuously add information and energy to the organization is more likely to fail.
How to break the inner coil?
It can be seen from the above that the essence of inner volume lies in meaningless consumption, which is mainly manifested by the low ceiling leading to limited interests and resources, causing low-level repetition or complicating simple problems. So how do we break the roll?
Referring to the risk-return corresponding graph mentioned above, if we release the risk exposure appropriately and enter area 2 and area 3, we can immediately enter the distribution curve from concave to convex to concave, which will widen the road as soon as it comes. The most direct solution is to get rid of the low level of diligence, to study their own areas of expertise, raise the ceiling level, do deep core technology; Or cross-border innovation can break through the original boundaries and produce valuable innovation results through the collision, intersection and integration of different fields. Simply put, it is to drive oneself to become a T – type talent.
Adhere to long-termism
“Lower desires are acquired by indulgence; Higher desires can be obtained through self-discipline; The highest desires are acquired through suffering.”
For most people, entering the society always starts from tool man, but as we become familiar with the role of tool, we will gradually face a new task, that is, how to choose a more suitable industry company and job? How to choose your field of expertise? Stick to deep core technology or follow the trend? It’s full of uncertainty, and people hate uncertainty, so some people just don’t choose, and some people like to listen to others. In fact, at this stage, it is always more important to find your own way than to listen to others’ directions. Don’t care about the social reputation or value created in the short term, but how much value you create in the long term, which may cause you pain, confusion or collapse.
It is a fundamental law of nature that in order to gain power, man must strive to push the limits of evolution, and this is painful. As Carl Jung said, “Man needs difficulty; it is necessary for health.” But most people instinctively avoid pain. Whether it’s training the body or training the mind, people avoid pain, such as the pain of lifting weights, such as depression, mental struggles, embarrassment, shame. This is especially true when one is confronted with the harsh reality of one’s own imperfections.
In Principles, Ray Dalio offers a formula: Pain + Reflection = progress. Pain represents your mistakes. You need to be able to reflect on your pain. Then you need to take the time to diagnose how your pain came about. By getting rid of the low level of diligence, you will naturally continue to “move up”.
When you get to a higher level, you realize that it wasn’t so bad that all the stuff that was around you was bothering you because of the lower level. Most things in life are just repetition. The higher up you are, the more effective you are at dealing with reality and shaping outcomes that meet your goals. And what once seemed impossibly complex can become simple. Zhang Lei of Hillhouse Capital mentioned in his book Value that one of the philosophical concepts he follows is “Peaches and plumes do not speak, yet a path is formed beneath them”, which means that success will come to us as long as we do our own things well.
Multiple thinking model
“Every problem looks like a nail to the man with the hammer.”
In Charlie Munger’s life, the pluralistic thinking model has always been applied, which can be found in his reading and learning as well as his investment and stock selection. His pluralistic models of thought, of which he estimates there are about 100, provide the background for an extraordinary insight into the nature and purpose of life.
The psychology of human nature shows that if you can only use one or two models of thought, you will distort reality until it fits your model, or at least until you think it fits your model. In order to solve this problem, you have to have a knowledge model that spans many different disciplines, the multiple thought model. It borrows and perfectly blends many analytical tools, methods and formulas from various traditional disciplines.
The power of one thought model is limited, even one exam, and 100 thought models can often bring extraordinary power. When several models are combined, you get the Lollapalooza effect. It’s like the critical mass in physics, when you reach a certain mass, you can trigger a nuclear explosion.
“Multitasking” or “Single-mindedness”
Time and again, research has shown that adopting a variety of mindsets — that is, approaches to problem analysis — leads to better problem solving and more innovation. Whoever it is needs two seemingly opposite qualities. On the one hand, it is necessary to obtain all kinds of information from massive resources, which is multi-tasking. On the other hand, they must cultivate their own concentration, adhere to the long-term, do undivided attention. This seemingly binary opposition is actually highly unified behavior called “the paradox of decentralization and concentration”.
In the letter T, the vertical line represents depth of knowledge, expertise and insight; The horizontal line represents open vision, including empathy and curiosity. “T-type talents” have the characteristics of “multi-tasking”, they can not only immerse themselves in their areas of expertise, but also communicate effectively with colleagues with other disciplines. In fact, these two complementary skills are often needed to solve specific problems.
How to improve the characteristics of “T-shaped talent”?
I understand that, so how can I promote these qualities that “T type talent” needs? What about some actual standardized procedures to help us improve? Arrangement!
Set goals
Lessing once said, “The slowest man, so long as he does not lose his aim, will go faster than those who wander aimlessly.”
A man with a goal, no matter how he goes, will not lose himself. People without goals, just like a headless fly, either here and there, or around, like to think wildly, but also often around others, worried that they will give up halfway, afraid that they will fail, as a result, even the courage to try. I often use two methods to determine my short – and long-term goals.
The first way: When you want to excel in a field, you first need to know what competencies you can build into a bucket. The bucket consists of three parts: hard competencies, soft competencies, and soft competencies.
We take Li Bai, a poet of tang Dynasty, as an example to analyze why he can excel in poetry. Li Bai’s hard abilities: First-class writing and imagination; Li Bai soft ability: self-packaging, public relations publicity, etc. Li Bai’s soft qualities: optimism, free and easy, spontaneous, etc. Seeing Li Bai’s ability, we can understand why some people can make money through we media, while others can’t! In the field of “we media”, it is far from enough to write. We need to know how to operate new media and set off the communication chain of articles. You also need to know how to communicate with advertisers and write good ads. You also need to know how to build teams, oversee the assembly line division to efficiently respond to various needs, and so on. We need to analyze the capacity bucket needed by our field, review our weaknesses, and make up for them one by one.
The second way: look for a role model around you, observe his strengths, the way he does things.
The Master said, “In the company of three, there must be a teacher of mine. Choose the good ones and follow them, and change the bad ones.” There must be someone out there that we can learn from. Find him. Anything that brings him in, what would he think if it was him? What would he do? I think this is a very good cutting point. Make a list of excellent people around you and surpass them one by one. Role models are always used to surpass. This process is also to train us to recognize the strengths of others. To always see the strengths of others, we need to be humble and reflective, keep learning and making progress.
Insight into the problem
Insight into the nature of a problem is an ability that requires long-term and continuous training, but this process is also to build our own bottom-level advantages at the system level. At the core, we need to improve two abilities.
The first ability is the ability of listening, speaking, reading and writing. The difference between people and people comes down to poor cognition. Listening and reading are inputs and nutrients, while speaking and writing are outputs and values. One input, one output, this is a closed loop, this is the underlying ability of the average person to make a transition.
The second ability: the ability to reflect. Many times our actions and choices are based on our subconscious mind, only to realize when we are done that oops! Introspection allows us to discover these problems, turn some of the correct actions into default actions, and perform the correct actions immediately when external conditions trigger them, subconsciously, equivalent to completing an operating system (underlying capabilities) upgrade.
Keep in mind that even the best software can’t be installed on an earlier version of the operating system. The reason why cognitive masters can quickly understand the essence and point to the key is not that they have several years of work experience, but that they can use the top thinking mode in different fields to systemize, structure and network the past knowledge, so as to form a systematic and comprehensive cognitive structure.
Efficient work
Output = productivity per unit of time × effective working hours. There are two ways to achieve high productivity:
- Increase effective working hours
- Increase productivity per unit of time
I recommend reading The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. The core conclusion is that “focus on creating value and improving yourself with your limited time.” Behind this are three skills that need to be developed, which also mirror the other three books: Flow, Self-control, and Lifelong Growth.
👇 is a personal daily List for reference only:
Work side routine
- First thing at the beginning of work, plan the work schedule for the day (it is recommended to have a clear TodoList and prioritize);
- Confirm the workload and upstream and downstream associated risks (such as whether the dependants can provide on time), and expose any risks as soon as possible;
- Pay attention to the cost of your time. Not everything is worth your time. Prioritize.
- Coordinate tasks, clear boundary responsibilities, do not ignore anyone, and timely synchronize tasks to relevant personnel;
- Timely summary of experience, precipitate technical output to achieve ability reuse, the same type of tasks, do not have to start from scratch, avoid staying up late.
Life side of the daily
- [Daily intensive Reading] Reading paper books, half an hour in the morning and half an hour in the evening, strictly based on the book list; (Except Saturday Family Day)
- 【 Daily extensive Reading 】 Technical/financial reading, half an hour in the morning and half an hour in the evening; (Except Saturday Family Day)
- [Daily diet] Develop the habit of recording and evaluating intake, and strictly avoid excess intake; (Except Saturday Family Day)
- [Weekly exercise] Exercise at least 3 times a week, start recording the exercise content and summary;
- [Monthly thinking] Review and in-depth thinking every month, and establish monthly reports and records.
Dare to ask where the road lies? At the foot of the road in
During the period of writing this article summary, coincided with the science and the game genres, “black mythology: the wu is empty” second refresh trailer broken ring, and its research and development in detail the control and dedication excellent interpretation of what is socialism for a long time, and in the technical strength, with the concept of high performance design and art performance and multidimensional degree of crossover and integration, create a rare ability of Chinese culture content packaging.
Judging by the comments section on Youtube, Black Legend: Goku is already a cultural export with just two trailers. For example, some users extol the effect of Chinese dragon (you can go to 13:00 – Dragon Appearance and 15:55 – Suona BGM in the video), and some people popularize the meaning of “five-toed dragon” in Chinese culture.
It ends with a long rhyme about the science of games:
Over the three boundaries of the temple, read the prosperity of the four continents. Laugh over the five aggregates, give up six cares. For friendship armor, for love to carry, lead horses, send sunset. Afraid of what desire endlessly, afraid of what wandering. He that never stops walking is saved.
Where is the way? The road is under foot.
