Yang Yaojin from Microsoft VS Code Java Team
Welcome to the VS Code update for Java. Over the past few months, our engineers have been focusing on some very important work. Now, it’s time to lift the veil and get started.
Type Hierarchy
VS Code already supports Java’s Call Hierarchy, but what about type hierarchies? Together with Red Hat, we are very pleased to announce that the latest version of the Java Language support extension released by Red Hat now supports browsing type hierarchies.
This feature allows you to view type hierarchies in class, supertype, or subtype views.
Package refactoring when moving files
We know that many developers have been waiting for this feature, which automatically updates package declarations and import statements when.java files are moved from one folder to another. The latest version of the Java language support extension released by Red Hat now supports this functionality. In addition to automatic updates, this feature allows you to preview and undo package changes.
Classpath Configuration
Managing source code, output, runtime, and library paths is an important project management task that almost every Java developer performs. For people using build tools such as Maven or Gradle, these tools allow you to manage these paths through their configuration files. However, for those who do not use build tools, especially students, they need to rely on IDE/editor tools for management. To meet this requirement, we have released the classpath configuration feature.
