It’s been a little hectic these last few weeks. A lot of things are easy to mess, a mess to deal with things will become less efficient. To sort through this fragmentation, there are two GTD tools that are good to use on your own.
Google Calendar
As an Android developer, I always have a special liking for Google’s products. And Google Home didn’t disappoint me too much.
With Google Calendar, you can keep track of what you need to do and what you’ve done each day. Think of it as both a time management tool and a small mobile diary. When you open the view, you can clearly see what you did on that day and that year. For each event, you can set a reminder time and add a description. It can be synchronized on iOS, Android and web.
OmniFocus
This is probably the most famous product in GTD. OmniFocus has a lot of reviews online, so you can do your own research.
Tell me about my own experience of using it. Why use OmniFocus when you’ve already used Google Calendar?
In the process of using Google Calendar, I found one thing that didn’t satisfy me very well. When a large task takes a period of time or requires a lot of sub-tasks to complete, Google Calendar is not very intuitive to track the completion of the task. This is not a problem at all in OmniFocus, where you can set tasks and create actions under tasks. Each action has its own timeline for completion.
Overall, the biggest advantage of OmniFocus over Google Calendar is that all tasks can be broken down and aggregated.
The advantages and disadvantages:
Google calendar
Advantages:
Multi-terminal synchronization, web terminal, mobile terminal (iOS, Android), there are many public festivals can be added, can be flexibly customized. Have a diary to keep track of what you did on a given day (provided you keep track of it, of course).
Disadvantages:
The need to climb the wall may limit the use of most Chinese. It’s not easy to manage projects or tasks that take longer than a day.
OmniFocus
Advantages:
There is no need to climb the wall, the task of separation and management is very convenient, very flexible.
Disadvantages:
Is a task management tool, the function of the record relative lack of comparison.
Expensive. The standard mobile version costs 258 yuan, and the professional version costs 388 yuan. The standard MAC version costs 252 yuan ($39.99), while the pro version costs 504 yuan ($79.99).
In addition to the MAC terminal need to purchase, mobile terminal unexpectedly also need to purchase separately. But in China, registration codes are relatively easy to solve.
A tool is always as good as the person who uses it. Tools are always going to be a secondary property, and before you use them, you still need to comb through your daily routine. Without the concept of management, the best management tools are just tools.
Finished!
