Not enough pips, PUA
The so-called workplace PUA means that the leader negates your value in various ways and makes you feel inferior. Even if you are Dev or PIP, you will still feel that the problem is your own incompetence.
For flax with wide in and wide out, this phenomenon is very common. For example, someone on Blind recently joked that his three friends in flax had experienced PUA assessment, during which they were crazy and denied by the manager. No matter what they did, they were forced to resign.
This type of PUA assessment can be regarded as an enhanced version of “Dev List”, because those who are added to the “DVE List” still have the chance to satisfy the manager and get out of danger, while PUA assessment is equivalent to a direct sentence of “death penalty” with no chance of turning over. First, the manager will place you in a Dev plan or a Coaching Plan and you will not be able to transfer to a group during this time (the transfer will require the approval of both VP’s).

Watch out for these subtle hints
While it may be true that some people have been made redundant due to incompetence, many more have been made redundant due to Dev/PIP quotas in their group.

Positive vs early slip, always have a way to deal with PUA

In the first way, you can feedback to HR by collecting evidence that you should not be PIP, HR is not on anyone’s side, if you can convince HR that it is the manager’s fault, then your manager will leave, not you.
Of course, this probability is very small, so might as well try the second way, is the most secure way: early brush ready to find a home.
It needs to be mentioned here that many people poisoned by PUA will feel that they are losers with poor ability and dare not strive for higher level when looking for a job.
