As cloud native is becoming the cornerstone of digital economy innovation, enterprises’ cloud native applications are becoming more diversified in types and more complex in scenarios. At this time, the capabilities built on the central cloud will be increasingly difficult to support the requirements of enterprise architecture agility, business agility and innovation.

In order to further expand the boundary of cloud and enable enterprises to get a consistent container infrastructure service experience wherever they need cloud, Alibaba Cloud container service has been fully upgraded to ACK Anywhere and launched Kubernetes distribution (ACK Distro) for heterogeneous IaaS environment. Enabling enterprises to enjoy the same technical capabilities as public cloud even on their own infrastructure.

At the Aliyun Native Combat Summit held on January 11, 2022, Ding Yu, researcher of AliYun and head of Cloud native application platform, announced that ACK Distro is officially open for free download, in order to better meet customers’ demands for container product richness and data control. ACK Distro’s core competencies include:

  • Safe and reliable: the core components come from Aliyun ACK service, and keep synchronous update. These core components have undergone rigorous production verification of hundreds of thousands of commercial users and ali Group’s core business scenarios, and their safety and reliability have been tested in practice to reach the industry-leading level

  • Agile and easy to use: ACK Distro deeply integrates Sealer, Alibaba’s open source cluster application packaging and delivery tool, to achieve cluster life cycle management functions such as automatic deployment, expansion, and upgrade at a minute level

  • Uniform experience: ACK Distro clusters can be smoothly managed by public cloud ACK to achieve consistent resource management, consistent policy compliance, consistent traffic control and consistent application deployment. At the same time, the application solutions supported by ACK Distro in the public cloud can be deployed equally in ACK Distro clusters

  • Diversity and compatibility: Core components support both X86 and ARM hardware architectures, while ACK Distro’s inclusion of high-performance networking plug-in Hybridnet enables diversity in the network environment, ensuring that ACK Distro can run smoothly on a diverse infrastructure

Through ACK Distro, enterprises can enjoy the same secure and reliable enterprise-class Kubernetes cluster as Alibaba Cloud container service ACK One on their own infrastructure before they decide to migrate their business to the public cloud, and experience the unified cloud native ability through Alibaba Cloud distributed container cloud platform ACK One. Enterprises with certain technical capabilities can also directly use ACK Distro’s agile and easy-to-use cluster automation management and application packaging delivery tools to create cloud native application clusters.
