Hello, I am kasaba obsessed with daily improvement, and today is day 1751. This is #155 of my weekly blog, give me a like if you like.
background
In the last article, we talked about how students should face the final stage before graduation and the basic analysis of the employment situation. In this article, we will discuss how students who have chosen their first job can better face the challenges of working life. After work, time flies. Five years and ten years go by in a blink of an eye, and many people stay in the same place, which is definitely not what you want to see. Therefore, a lot of the content of this article will involve time and planning.
Some advice for facing life
The first thing we have to admit is that it is impossible to separate life from work completely, and even during our holidays we are always overwhelmed with work. But you should never make work your whole life. You should at least make time for yourself and your family. Otherwise, time is something you can never get back. In short, make it clear that work is just a part of life, on an individual level, when working hard for a better life.
Plan your life properly
In the previous article, we said that we should think about our life in the next 10 years before graduation. Now that the first job is basically selected, it is time to make a clearer plan. This process will take at least half a day of your time, but it is better to have the help of an expert in this area. The first step is to imagine what you want your life to be in 10 years. How you will get to work, what kind of house you will live in, even how old your children will be, what your spouse will be like. The second step is to think about five years to reach this state you should be what state, in what kind of company, annual income level Third step, think to achieve this state you should what is the status 2 years later, in what kind of company, engaged in what kind of job The fourth step, in the same way the step 5 to plan for the future one year, In the same way in step six of planning for the next three months, you string the process together into a story and then run it through your head to see if anything doesn’t make sense, if anything is iterating. After at least three iterations, a reasonable development process has been generally reached. But you have to understand that the reasoning that you’re making is based on the assumption that there’s no massive technological change, that there’s no black swan event and so forth. Now, this is a plan you’d better digitize and put in the cloud. This plan is like a series of street lamps to help you figure out where you’re falling short of your goals, and it needs to be reviewed and revised regularly.
Do some time planning
Now that you know that there are a number of things you can do to reach your future goals, make sure that you’re physically fit and ideally put in place a risk-resistant financial plan in the process. It’s also clear that there are at least three areas worth investing your time in:
- Exercise and stay healthy. There is no clear technical way to achieve this, so stick to your diet and exercise weekly
- It’s better to take time out of your day to be with your family. Don’t wait until you’ve seen them go before you realize how valuable family really is. Old people grow older, and children grow older, and every day is a unique day.
- Stay engaged in your industry or technology. The 10,000-hour rule is well known, but it’s important to know that daily transactional work just done doesn’t count as 10,000 hours. You need constant practice and feedback to become an expert in your field within 10,000 hours.
Develop good habits
See this on my #152 blog. I won’t repeat it here.
Some suggestions for work
Let’s talk a little bit more about some work stuff.
Distinguish between important things and unimportant things
Normally, after you’ve been on the job for a while, you’ll get a steady stream of work assigned to you. If you just do what’s in front of you every day, it’s likely that a year will pass without you making any progress.
Do the things that matter best
You build something and you sell it, and the score is a relative term, and it’s your skill level

Note that I’m talking about important things here, because human energy is always limited and it’s impossible to do everything perfectly
Exceed your boss’s expectations
Think and don’t let your leader be your ceiling
Refuse to be a fake worker
The first time I heard the word “pseudo-worker” was in Wu Jun’s “Google Methodology” column. After listening to it, I was inspired to answer my questions for a long time, while avoiding the development of personal pseudo-worker. Tactical diligence cannot hide strategic laziness.
