This tutorial takes you through installing CentOS from scratch

Vmware installation

This is all on Windows, if you are on a MAC, you need to download the.dmg package.

1. Double-click the software package of VMware15/12

2. Click Next as prompted

When finished, you can see the vmware12 icon on your desktop

3. Install the VM using vmware

1. Create a VM

Note: the name of virtual machine should be defined as a more easily identifiable, do not call all centos, if you have 10, one of them want to delete, you will not be clear which one is. You can specify the location for storing VMS. Do not store VM files in A C disk because vm files are large.

If your physical CPU is 4 cores, it is recommended to use 4 cores here to make the vm run faster.Note: memory to 2-4G, according to the content of your computer to decide. And even if you give it 4G, it’s not always going to be full, so it’s dynamic memory.

Note: Sometimes the bridge mode is not allowed on the corporate network. In this case, you can use NAT mode instead

Note: It should be noted that: some experiments may require more than 20G hard disk, but 20G is sufficient for most experiments, so 20G is selected here. In case of insufficient later, a new hard disk can be added and partition formatting can be used. Here select custom hardware, to set the path of the image, delete the printer and sound cardClick close and click FinishAt this point, if no error is reported, you are almost done, but some students will appear as shown in the picture below:This problem is usually because the BIOS does not support virtualization. We will explain how to solve this problem in detail at the end of this article. If you do, skip to the end of the article.

4. Start the VM and install the OS

2. Select Install Centos7 to start the installation

When the following image appears, press Enter

3. Select language: Chinese – Simplified Chinese (China)

At the beginning of learning, I suggest using Chinese language, learning itself is against humanity, don’t torture yourself, you are not suffering.

4. Enter the one-stop installation screen (here is the major difference with centos6).

1) Time zone: Shanghai

2) Choose the default keyboard

3) Installation source Select the default installation source

4) For the selection of software package, it is recommended to use a server with GUI

Don’t say what the company is minimized, you first learn to minimize the desktop in consideration of the problem, learning needs to step by step, not everyone can cultivate the dragon 18 palm 18 type

5) You can choose the default partition configuration and manually partition later.

Manual partitioning:Select – Other storage options – Partition – I want to configure the partition, click “Done” in the upper left corner, enter the following interface, in the partition scheme has standard partition, BTRFS, LVM, LVM simple configuration, here select “standard partition” can be.The /boot partition is 200M. Generally, the swap partition is 1.5 to 2 times the physical memory size. If the physical memory size exceeds 16 GB, the swap partition can be 8 to 16 GB. / The root partition is 10G. In practice, you can create data partitions to separate data from the system.

Create /boot partition as shown in figure

Note: Sometimes you need to upgrade the kernel in the company. If the boot partition becomes smaller after the upgrade, Zabbix will send an alarm. Therefore, you can choose a 500 MB partition in the company

The device type is the default standard partition, the file system type is XFS, Centos7 supports BRTFS, and BTRFS is not recommended in the production environment. The BTRFS file system is not yet mature and is used as a prospective technology

Create swap partition (ali cloud does not have swap partition by default, but physical machines still need swap partition)

Creating a root partition

After the partition is created, click the button and the remaining space can be used for practicing manual partitioning in later learning.

Close the kdump

The network configuration

Network configuration, default centos7 is off the network, we must enable Ethernet connection here, will automatically obtain the IP address

Use the default security policy

After the installation is complete, install the system on a single machine

The installation screen is displayed. Set the user name and password for both root and common users

After the installation, restart the server

System startup completed:

To enable the configuration for the first time, click Licensing to accept license authentication

Do gnOMe-initial-setup for the first time

Language selection, default is fine, straight forward The following encounter forward point forward, encounter skip click to skip to finally appear as the picture below:

When the operating system is installed, right click on the blank screen – open terminal

Check the basic configuration of centos7 and check whether the Internet access is normal

Summary of common pits

1. Create a Linux VM. If Intel VT-X is disabled and cannot be started, the solution is displayed

Generally, this situation occurs because the BIOS does not support virtualization. Asus for example: The BIOS f2-F12 del is entered after boot

Step: Enter advanced mode – Enter the advanced menu —- to enable Intel virtualization technology

F10 Save the Settings and exit.

2. Start the VM and the screen is black

Run CMD as the administrator, enter netsh winsock reset, and press Enter. A message is displayed indicating that the network service is reset successfully. Then restart the computer

3. The number of connection sockets in XXX is too high

Solution: Right-click My Computer, choose Manage, locate the VM services, set all vm services to Started, and restart the VM.
