I haven’t written anything for a long time. There are many reasons, the most important is laziness. The rest of the paper was rolled badly, and then it was recovered, so it was meaningless to roll it (my colleague also issued a weekly paper just now, today is Sunday).
It’s just that the new leader is leaving, so I just need to do some writing to review the last few months.
The establishment of central Taiwan
Because the company is also beginning to take shape, some business is to be extracted. Following ali’s example, our company has also established a center called Business Center, which mainly involves search business and document business.
At that time, a big man was recruited to be the leader of the company. Let’s call it S for the time being. S has a very good resume and has worked in Alipay, IBM and Zhongan.
China split
Because S is new to our company, he is not familiar with the business. In fact, he is reported to by another senior member of the company, who should call him Z. Z enjoys a good reputation. But parachuting in leaders is common.
A month later, the company selected a content Center from the Business Center under the leadership of Z. The specific reason is also because of Z’s strength. The company has affirmed the value of Z in terms of products, testing and research and development. Later, it formed a “business” and “content” parallel situation.
The problem
It doesn’t really matter. I was following Z, right
I followed S when I was still in “Business Medium”, not “Content Medium” with Z.
On the one hand, I still have some unfinished work to do. On the other hand, Z also suggested me to stay in Business Center and learn the search business. After all, search talents are in short supply.
However, through my observation, the newly appointed leader S is not so concerned about the company. OKR is not complete, and I can hardly align it with it. Coupled with a search bottleneck (the product is always trying to improve the search experience by improving the MAP metrics), it made it hard for me.
Compared with the next “Content In Taiwan” constantly recruiting and planning blueprints, I suddenly appeared a big gap, we all work in the company, but the performance is very important, if not a good performance, the year-end performance award will not look good.
Ask for help
I spoke to the old leader Z for some reason. The old leader Z has always taken care of his own people. In his words, “We are all workers, there is no need to be difficult with each other”.
I later shared my concerns with Z:
- Direction is not clear, search business map index may not be able to go up at the end of the year;
- Leader S is not good at platform speech, year-end performance is easy to suffer losses;
- The quick-win scheme of product promotion has no system. For development, it is speeding up the decay of code.
Z, the old leader, told me why S was a little unconcerned. The reason was simple: S had already found a new job. I was still surprised when I heard that. After all, S has only been here for less than 4 months, I was still surprised by the change. But what’s done is done. Z later said that he didn’t know who your “Business Center” would lead.
As for my concerns, if I were assigned to him, there would be few problems, and he helped with the search planning. If that doesn’t work, I can put in a transfer and go straight to his place.
We talked for about an hour, which was a temporary relief.
Why anxiety
There are many reasons for the above thinking, because the company recently conducted a performance review, from which I can see the unspoken rules of good performance:
- What you do needs to be known, so you need to show yourself;
- If you need someone to speak for you, it is important to have good dealings with others.
In these rules, I realized the importance of people, of course, their own efforts are also important, but the results of efforts also need someone to help speak for them.
Now the next distribution results are unknown, can only wait and see its change, for me personally, or do a good job of their own work. As for leader S, I wish him good luck in his new job and a promising future.
