preface
It’s been a while since the macOS Big Sur was released, but have you been brave enough to try it? Big Sur is installed in the first time. As a result, some commonly used software has problems and will crash. On top of that, Big Sur brings a whole new icon style that brings it closer to iOS in terms of interface style. This is a Neumorphism style that is different from the previous flatter style, and many designers are debating whether this is the next wave of UI design.
Quasi and flattening
The predecessor of the new mimicry style was simulacra, which was more about deliberately creating physical properties of the real world on the screen of a digital device. But between simulacra and neo-mimicry, flat design has ruled for the last 10 years…
The flat style provides consistent performance and usability across devices. However, with the spread of flat style, more and more designers think about how to combine some characteristics of simulacronic design with flat characteristics, thus the birth of the new mimicronic style.
New mimicry style
The new mimicry style has been widely discussed in the UI designer community since last year, and most UI designers are negative about it. The criticism, of course, comes from the early experiments with the new mimicry style, which focused on distinguishing the visual experience from the past, rather than focusing on usability.
The new mimicry style is more focused on how to use light to create a three-dimensional space.
Some of the first experiments that got the new mimicry criticized were those that showed white UI elements on a white background, using only light and projection to make the UI elements look raised or sunken. This design does not allow for user interface usability, so it is not yet a widely applicable design style. However, the new mimicry style presents the concept of global lighting for a UI interface, not just on a single element, but on how multiple elements interact in a light and shadow world.
However, it is not easy to put an abstract plane element into the light and shadow world, such as the ICONS in the picture above Big Sur, there is a lot of room for improvement, designer Vikiiing thought so, so he made the abstract plane element 3D, to make light and detail more real.
This set of ICONS by Vikiiing really hit my heart…
Application of new mimicry wind in the front end
Design and front-end development are closely related, after all, the designer’s work ultimately depends on us front-end engineers to achieve an interactive interface. Is that why there is the D2 Conference Designer & Developer Frontend Technology Forum
