According to Counterpoint Market Monitor’s latest research data in the second quarter of 2018, Apple’s profit ratio is as high as 62%, three times that of Huawei, Vivo, Oppo and Xiaomi combined.
The analyst firm said global mobile phone profits grew by 4 percent annually in the second quarter of 2018, mainly due to Chinese mobile phone brands, whose flagship products are very positive. Their combined profits topped $2 billion for the first time, accounting for nearly a fifth of all mobile phone profits.
Samsung’s phone profit fell 21% due to lower-than-expected sales of the Galaxy S9, with S9 shipments falling 24% in the second quarter of 2018 compared to the Galaxy S8 in the second quarter of 2017, the analysts wrote in the report.
At $400 to $600, Oppo and Apple are tied for first place with 22% each; Apple has 44% of the $600- $800 mobile market; Apple dominates the market for mobile phones costing more than $800 with 88% of the market.
