preface

I believe many programmers are using Markdown. I came into contact with it when I was looking for an internship in my junior year, and I wrote my resume with Markdown.

The advantage of Markdown is that it can focus on the code word and also take typesetting into consideration. Unlike Word, it does not need to move the mouse to add bold text, which is a very good experience.

Its disadvantage is that its visualization ability is weak, which reduces the efficiency of information transmission. After all, people are more receptive to pictorial content than text.

For visualization, mind maps are great. As a visual tool, it helps us remember, learn and think better by organizing the topic hierarchically and diversely.

However, in the past, these two kinds of tools were independent, that is, after you write Markdown text, if you want to visually convey some key points to the reader, you need to re-type the mind map, so it is complicated, which is why I don’t use the mind map very much.

But recently I found a very useful tool, can be very good to solve the above problem, here to share with you. The following is a mind map for the main points of this article, which was generated using this tool.

Tool is introduced

The tool is called MarkMap.

Markmap visualizes the text of Markdown syntax using mind maps. The name MarkMap comes from the pre-Markdown and the pre-MindMap. The slogan is Visualize Your Markdown with MindMaps.

Tool use

The online version

If you don’t want to install anything, you can go to markmap.js.org/repl in your browser (chrome is recommended) and do the conversion using the template shown below. Markdown text is entered on the left and mind maps are displayed in real time on the right.

Markdown syntax links, bold, strikeout, italics, single lines of code, code blocks, mathematical formulas, and transitions to mind maps all have corresponding view effects. It also supports downloading and generating dynamic HTML files and SVG files.

The dynamic effect is shown below and can be folded and opened.

The offline version

If you want to have a better experience and want to be able to use it even when your network is down, I recommend the following solution.

Install the MarkMap plug-in on Visual Studio Code as shown below.

Edit the Markdown text, the file name ending with.mm. Md can be used, and you can click the “export” button in the lower right corner to export the dynamic HTML file.

This tool is simple and easy to use, if it is useful to you, you can give me a like, share with friends around, thank you very much readers friends, also welcome to follow me, I will share more high-quality original content.
