In April, we announced the first version of our Android for Cars library in Jetpack, allowing developers to publish navigation, parking, and charging apps in the Google Play Store.
Now, we’re announcing the Alpha phase of version 1.1, which will bring the following features to developers:
- Login template – Allows users to log in to your application directly from the car screen while parking.
- Long Message template – allows you to display long messages such as terms of service to the user as part of the parking setup process.
- Multiple word length text – Different car screen sizes display different amounts of text. We have added an API that allows you to specify multiple different text strings in selected templates to suit different screen sizes.
- Map interactivity – You can now add new features such as zooming and panning to the navigation template.
For a complete list of updates, see the release notes. To start building your car app, check out our latest developer documentation, car quality guide, and design guide.
The functionality of these development libraries is currently available only for Desktop Head Unit testing. We will announce when these features will be available in cars in the future.
