On October 20th, TARS, Blue Whale and Metis, three open source projects of Tencent open Source, gathered for the first time and participated in the “OSCAR Open Source Pioneer Day” sponsored by China Academy of Information and Communication Technology and undertaken by Cloud Computing Standards and Open Source Promotion Committee. At the meeting, Tencent open source team exchanged operation and maintenance experience with front-line technical engineers face to face, and actively invested in the construction of open source community.

At the meeting, Wang Chunyu, head of Tencent open source operation, shared Tencent’s process of doing open source from bottom to top. As we have learned, Tencent open source began in 2010. In the past six years, Tencent has realized the leap from internal open source to external open source, from open source recruits to open source pioneers, focusing on the good developer experience. In Wang Chunyu’s opinion, a good open source is not only a Code and program, but also a Community over Code based on a building with rules and regulations. Tencent hopes to move open source from a technology-driven to a commercial strategy and build a win-win and healthy developer ecosystem with continuous technological innovation.

As one of the highlights of this event, Tencent Cloud Metis intelligent operation and maintenance software platform officially announced open source at the meeting. Metis is the first open source product in the field of intelligent operation and maintenance. It aims to use algorithms to learn and explore rules from massive operation and maintenance data, gradually reducing the dependence on human-specified rules and reducing human error. At present, Metis has gradually built mature intelligent operation and maintenance scenarios from three aspects of operation and maintenance quality, efficiency and cost, and greatly improved the work efficiency of operation and maintenance personnel from six aspects of quality assurance, efficiency improvement, cost management, intelligent detection, and general model and rule learning.

The conference is the latest collaboration between TARS and KICT, which was announced in March this year. TARS is Tencent’s open source high-performance RPC framework based on TARS protocol, providing integrated microservice governance solutions for development, operation and maintenance. According to Shan Zhihao, head of TARS open source project, TARS has four characteristics of multi-language, agile research and development, high availability and efficient operation, and it is particularly good in the performance of Go language development framework. As a mature open source project, TARS has officially represented Tencent Open Source to join the international well-known open source organization Linux Foundation in June this year, to further serve the international community of technical developers.

Tencent another open source operation and maintenance project Blue Whale configuration platform, is the main attack CMDB field. The blue whale, the open source project director wen-bing Yang said that the blue whale by providing custom CI management, help developers to extend the built-in CI properties, dynamic new CI and correlation at the same time, to break the traditional CMDB information linkage is blocked in the construction of difficulties, consistency maintenance, resource management and implementation in CMDB as the core automatic operations. In the future, Blue Whale configuration platform will continue to polish in ease of use, efficiency and function depth, adhering to the mentality of open sharing, to create a common CMDB in the industry.

On the base of making of tencent open source (https://github.com/Tencent/), tencent has won 170000 making Star, released 62 include artificial intelligence, mobile development, small procedures, architecture, system, and other open source projects in the field of cutting-edge technology. In recent years, Tencent has successively joined Hyperledger, LF Networking and Open Network Foundation, and become the primary founding member of LF Deep Learning Foundation and platinum member of Linux Foundation. In response to the rapid development of open source work, On September 30, Tencent launched a new round of overall strategic upgrading, officially announced the establishment of a technical committee, through internal distributed open source collaboration, to build a technology platform with Tencent characteristics. It can be predicted that the construction of the technical center will further reserve sufficient ammunition for external open source, so that Tencent will continue to output technical support for the technical research and development personnel of the whole industry, and create an open and innovative open source atmosphere.
