PhoenixGo, developed by the wechat team, was officially opened on May 11, which is the first open source Go AI project in China.
PhoenixGo is an artificial intelligence Go program developed by Tencent wechat translation team, aiming to learn the cutting-edge technology of artificial intelligence. PhoenixGo, known as BensonDarr (golden retriever), has been competing on Tencent’s noe fox go platform since late January against top professional players, go enthusiasts and AI players around the world. By the end of April, PhoenixGo had won more than 200 consecutive games and won the fuzhou 2018 AI go competition, attracting widespread attention in the industry.
A good Go AI requires a combination of algorithms, engineering implementation, and computing resources. Currently go AI has excellent public algorithms, but it is not easy to have good engineering implementation and large computing resources at the same time.
In order to make way other researchers can on the basis of the industry continue to explore the mysteries of game AI, help players more easily research of game AI paths, but also to many game enthusiasts in the ordinary household computer can enjoy the pleasure of and professional handtalk nine, WeChat team decided to foreign open source PhoenixGo game source code and the trained model.
After more than a week of preparation, PhoenixGo is now officially open sourcing the game source code and a 20-block model. This source code and model can provide a strong professional chess player on a single GPU, in the single-machine multi-card and multi-machine multi-card system has far exceeded the level of human chess players. PhoenixGo’s Account, Golden Retriever Test, was run on a Tesla P40 that matched the performance of the GTX 1080 Ti and had a very high win rate against human players.
Tencent has always been adhering to the “open” strategy, promoting technology research and development toward sharing, reuse and open source. In March this year, Tencent was invited to become an initial platinum member of THE LF Deep Learning Foundation due to its outstanding technical influence in the field of AI open source, which will focus on supporting and maintaining open source innovation in the field of artificial intelligence.
Up to now, Tencent has officially released a total of 52 open source projects, including wechat 22 open source projects. The wechat team said they hope PhoenixGo’s open source will help the AI field grow further.
