This is for Mac geeks! First things first. For those of you who have had some experience with a Mac, please go out and turn left. Source: Fan learning Paradise

Before you get your first Mac and use it for the first time, you need to change some of your mindset and not use the Mac the way Windows does. You may not need to install domestic such and such antivirus, such and such guards. You don’t even need to turn it off often. The Mac will save you from the constant maintenance, antivirus, and driver upgrades of Windows and let you focus on the things that really matter to you.

A, Mac? OS X ?

The name Apple uses for its line of computers — the iMac, The Mac Mini, the Macbook, the Mac Pro and so on — is collectively called the Mac.

The Mac’s proprietary operating system is called OS X, and the letter “X” is a Roman numeral and officially pronounced “ten” (say after me “TEN”).

Early VERSIONS of OS X were code-named Big Cat inside Apple computers. Like the Puma in 2001 and the Mountain Lion in 2012. After running out of feline names, they decided to use California attractions as the system’s code name. Like OS X Mavericks (Surf’s Bay) in 2013, OS X Yosemite (Yosemite) in 2014, and OS X El Capitan this fall.

Bottom line: Mac = Mac computer, OS X = Mac computer system

2. App Store, iTunes Store, iTunes, Apple Store

App Store

The App Store on the Mac is the Application Store. It is apple’s official platform for purchasing and downloading Mac software.

iTunes

App for managing iPhone, playing and managing digital music, books, podcasts, etc. When you plug in your iPhone, you can easily manage your iPhone. Backup, sync, restore data, sync music, install and uninstall App, swipe iPhone system, etc.

iTunes App iTunes Store

ITunes is a store for downloading and buying digital music, music videos, TV shows, etc.

Apple Store

The Apple Store. Where to buy Apple hardware products. Online is called “Apple Store online Store”, the website is Apple Store China official website. Offline is called “Apple Store”, currently there are 19 domestic (magic has 4), you can go to this page to see Apple Store retail.

Conclusion:

  • App Store: Apple’s computer software Store

  • ITunes Store: A great way to manage iphones on the Mac

  • ITunes: Not much use at home

  • Apple Store: Where Apple sells products on its website and in physical stores

Three, commonly used shortcut keys

On some of Apple’s own keyboards, there are usually special keys in the top line, with ICONS for volume, display brightness and other features. Press the icon key to perform the corresponding function, or combine it with the Fn key to be used as F1, F2, F3, or other standard function keys.

Top row special buttons

Space key

This is a magic button. On the Mac, almost any file can be quickly previewed using the space bar. Videos, images, music, pages, documents, PDFS, and so on. Take pictures for example. Just click on an image in the folder, click the space bar to open it, and then click up and down or so keys to switch to other pictures. You don’t have to double click to open it, double click to close it, double click to open it, double click to close it…

Rope life sincere valuable, space dafa good.

The Command ⌘

This is another amazing Mac only button. This is usually done in conjunction with other keys. Remember that most of the shortcut key combinations will require this.

The Command ⌘

Copy and paste

  • ⌘ + C Replication

  • ⌘ + X cut

  • ⌘ + V paste

  • ⌘ + Option + V paste, the copied object will not remain. This is equivalent to “moving”.

Close and exit

  • ⌘ + W Closing the current software window (the software does not actually exit the process) is the equivalent of clicking the Red Cross in the upper right corner.

  • ⌘ + Q Truly exits the software.

  • ⌘ + Option + ESC To force an exit of software. Usually used when the software is not responding.

Forcibly exit a piece of software

A bit of nonsense: Thanks to the Mac’s excellent memory management mechanism. To normally close software, just click the upper left Red Cross or ⌘+W. It will not affect the performance of the computer and the battery too much, but the next time the software is opened quickly.

⌘ + Z undo

When editing a document, it is equivalent to Ctrl+Z in Windows, that is, undo the operation just now. It’s even more powerful on the Mac, and you can use this shortcut to undo what you just accidentally did. If you just deleted an image and you immediately regret it, of course you can open the wastebasket, find the image you just deleted and put it back. Even better is to click ⌘+Z immediately after the delete and the magic will happen. The deleted image will revert to its original position!

⌘ + A Select all

The Windows equivalent of CTRL +A

⌘ + Delete Delete

That is, move the documents to the wastebasket

⌘ + S save

You don’t have to explain it

⌘ + N New

Create something new that you’re using. So let’s say you’re using Safari, so ⌘+N is to create a new Safari window. So when you’re in Photoshop, ⌘+N is to create a New Photoshop document.

⌘ + space key Toggle an input method

You can also set it yourself

Control + space bar

Show or hide the Spotlight search bar.

⌘ + TAB

Switch between apps, try it out and you’ll see.

Some shortcuts can be changed to your preferences, such as Input method, Spotlight, etc.

Shortcut keys can be customized

For more details on keyboard shortcuts, see Apple’s official website help: Mac Keyboard Shortcuts

Bottom line: Mac shortcuts are different from Windows shortcuts that need to be remembered slowly. But there are only 10 or so commonly used, and there are rules to follow.

4. Multi-touch Touch pad gestures

In addition to shortcuts, using multi-touch gestures on a Mac with a multi-touch trackpad is another way to increase your productivity and extend your life. The trackpad on the Mac is nothing like the trackpad on those Windows laptops. With this thing, you can really appreciate the beauty of the Mac system and realize what is flowing naturally. Tap, roll, open and close, and flick, one finger, two fingers, three fingers, four fingers. Taking 10 minutes to understand these gestures will not only be useful in the future, but will most importantly make Mac use much more efficient and convenient.

Many of the gestures are similar to those used on the iPhone, such as tapping something on the trackpad rather than pressing it down (and hearing a sound). For example, swipe left from the right edge of the trackpad with two fingers, similar to swiping in from the outside of the top of the screen on the iPhone. Like zooming in and out images and web pages with two fingers, just like on the iPhone.

Chestnut:

Double finger open and close zoom web pages or pictures
Place two fingers on the right edge of the trackpad and drag toward center to display notification center

And more:

Conclusion:

– Everything you need to learn about these gestures quickly is in System Preferences – Trackpad. (Recommended!) Multi-touch: Mac Basics: Multi-touch gestures

Install and uninstall software

You are advised to download the software from the App Store or the official website. The Mac software format extension is.app, and you can install the app files downloaded from the web site by simply dragging them to the “Apps” folder. To make uninstalling software even easier, open the Apps folder and remove or drag the software you want to unmount to the basket with the ⌘+ Delete key.

The format of Mac software is APP

⚠ Sometimes software downloaded from web sites is in the.dmg format, which is actually packaged as a disk image. Just double click to open it, which usually brings up a shortcut screen. Just drag the.app in the small window into the Applications folder to install.

DMG format

Conclusion: Placing the.app software in the “Applications” folder is the installation of the software, and deleting the.app software from the “Applications” folder is the uninstallation. Simple!!!!

6. AriDrop and Bluetooth

AirDrop makes it easy to wirelessly send and share photos, videos, websites, locations, and more from Mac to Mac, iPhone to iPhone, or even Mac to iPhone. It’s very fast. You need to enable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

Turn AirDrop on or off from the iPhone’s Control Center

Or select a file, right click “Shared-AirDrop”, find the device (iPhone or Mac) you want to send it to, and click to share.

Send files from your Mac directly to other devices

The AirDrop in the Finder

Use AirDrop to send files from the Finder on your Mac to other nearby devices and Macs

The AirDrop in the Finder

The new macBooks and iphones have low-power Bluetooth, which doesn’t use much power if left on all the time. Once I was on the street and needed to process an image to send to a colleague. I took my MacBook and tried AirDrop it to my phone, but I didn’t expect it to work even though there was no Wi-Fi on the street. As long as your iPhone and Mac have Bluetooth enabled, AirDrop will work!

AirDrop: Mac Basics: AirDrop sends files from your Mac to nearby Macs and iOS devices

Bottom line: If you often need to transfer files between iPhone and Mac, or send files to your friends. AirDrop is a nice feature. It’s fast and doesn’t cost traffic.

Handoff continuous communication

To explain Handoff to you, you can start an email on your iPhone and continue on your Mac. Or browse the Web on your Mac and then continue on the same page on your iPhone. As long as your devices are logged into the same iCloud account, everything works seamlessly. Isn’t that cool?

Make sure Handoff is turned on on your Mac and iPhone, of course.

Mac in “System Preferences – General” :

Mac enable Handoff

IPhone in Settings – Universal -Handoff and Advice app:

The iPhone is enabled Handoff

For example, if you’re on Safari and you want to continue on your Macbook, just open your Macbook and see something on the far left of the Dock. Click on it.

Handoff

It works on a Mac, and it works on an iPhone. I’m writing this in a Mac memo right now, and I want to continue writing on my phone while lying in bed. I click on the iPhone’s Home button and note the Handoof icon in the lower left corner of the unlock screen. Just light it and lift it.

Handoff

More on the use of Handoff continuous Interconnect: Connect the iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, and Mac using the “Continuous Interconnect” feature

Bottom line: If you have a Mac, iPhone, or iPad and want to work together better, Handoof is a good thing.

Eight, the Spotlight

What kind of balls is Spotlight?

This is the story of a magical search that can make Mac use even more efficient. It’s usually hidden in that magnifying glass in the upper right corner of the screen. Or the shortcut key (Control + space bar) opens.

Spotlight

You’ll see a nice search box in the center of the desktop.

And then try typing 12 by 83

Spotlight of doing

Try putting in $30

Spotlight conversion

Or enter wechat and press enter

Spotlight to open the App

See? Of course Spotlight can do a lot more than that. On the upcoming OS X El Capitan, you can even use your own words to find what you’re looking for. For example, if you type in “photos taken last week,” Spotlight will show you all the photos that match.

9. Make your Mac more secure

Compared to Windows, OS X has a very low probability of poisoning. And because of the low market share, virus developers tend to develop Windows viruses. So you really don’t need to install any anti-virus software. If you are concerned about computer security and privacy, suggest:

Set up an iCloud account to log in to your computer.

2. Allow Mac App Store and approved developers to download applications

“System Preferences – Security and Privacy – General”

3. Enable the firewall

“System Preferences – Security and Privacy – Firewalls”

4. FileVault is full disk content encryption

The average user can not turn it on (having it on will have a minor impact on performance). If you are a member of the public who is obviously or afraid of a door, the crack wall suggests opening it. So even if someone takes the hard drive down directly, the data inside can not be read and impossible to crack.

FileVault summary:

  • Set the icloud login

  • No antivirus optimization software is required

  • You do not need to turn on FileVault

  • It is recommended that the firewall be enabled

Do You need to turn off your Mac?

My advice is not to turn it off, or at least not so often. Unless there’s a system update or a glitch on the computer that needs to be shut down and restarted, or you probably won’t use it for a month or two, shut it down.

The shutdown is actually a hangover from PC usage from years or even decades ago. At that time, the computer power consumption is relatively large, and the system memory file management, power management mechanism is not as good as now. Shutting down a Windows computer saves power and frees up system memory. But today’s computers, whether OS X for Macs or new Versions of Windows for PCS, use much less power than in the past on both consoles and ultrabooks, plus excellent system management mechanisms. Computer systems can sleep (sleep) for a period of time without operation, when the contents of the flash memory are temporarily stored on the hard disk and the power consumption is minimal. You also need to turn off and turn on the machine frequently, each time you have to wait to turn off and turn on the machine, wasting a few minutes a day on this. Some computer software also made the boot time score, is really a joke, many times the computer boot time is slow, these so-called optimization software “contributed”.

Back to the Mac, I use a Mac Mini for work, and I usually leave it to sleep after work at night rather than turn it off. The next day to open the computer seconds to yesterday’s work state. Only on the weekend, I would organize my papers and work for the week, and then shut down the computer once in the second half. If you use a MacBook, its portability is not only reflected in the light, but also reflected in the “cover to go, open cover” pleasure. They often have 70% left on that day, close the lid and go to bed only to turn it on the next day and still have that much left.

Bottom line: Don’t waste time on the switch.

11. Recommended basic software

1) Office: Apple’s own iWork suite (Pages documents, Numbers spreadsheets and Keynote presentations), similar to the Office suite for Windows. Easy to use, good editing can also easily export Windows platform support formats. Installation: App Store

The MS Office suite is also available for Mac, but I haven’t used it and can’t recommend it. Interested can buy try.

Xii. The End

The soul of the Mac is OS X, with its elegance and efficiency, as well as its ridicule and anti-humanity. But since you’ve chosen the Mac as your tool, your helper. You should take a little time to get to know it, and after you get familiar with it, you’ll be in your element.
