Study for a PhD or work??

Hello everyone, I am a computer major in master’s degree, graduate next year. Time flies, three years of postgraduate career has come to the end. Looking back on the past three years, it is quite substantial. After these years of efforts, there are some gains. In terms of scientific research, one paper has been accepted and another is in the submission process. On the job front, after months of hard work and some success, the three parties signed a military-industrial research institute. 👍

Facing choices

At the end of 2021, life is calm as temperatures drop. I thought I could hibernate, but a phone call disturbed my otherwise quiet life again. Registration for PhD audit has begun! Our teacher wants me to sign up for his PhD. It should have been a joyful event, but I wasn’t excited from the bottom of my heart. I asked myself, do I really want to read it? A doctor usually spends 3-5 years. The five years of youth between 25 and 30 years are the most crucial and best years of life. I asked myself if I would be willing to exchange these years for a PhD? A few years of single-mindedness in research is a luxury.

The dust settles

After a few days of deliberation, discuss it with family and friends. I also talked to the teacher. Considering my family situation, educational background and future plans, I decided to go to work directly. That might suit me better. After all, I’m almost 2/30 and it’s time to take some responsibility. People always want to enter the society, many practical problems must be faced. I follow my heart, I make decisions I’ve considered, and I take responsibility.

The choice has been made, and the next step is to stick to it. The next three to five years are crucial years, and I hope I can work hard to move forward regardless of difficulties. First of all, I will be able to successfully complete my graduation thesis writing and defense in the next half year. Then after entering the work unit, I hope I can conscientiously work, holding the mentality of learning, progress. The first few years must be rooted in technology, and constantly improve their technical level and ability in all aspects.
