Online platforms are the most popular

Among the respondents, network platform is the most popular way to purchase (40%). Second-hand trading platform under C2C mode, guarantee transaction, attaches importance to the construction of community, and improves the efficiency of second-hand trading.

Social platforms followed (27%), making it easier for people in the same area and with the same interests to trade and communicate. Relatively few sellers went through bricks-and-mortar stores (16 percent) and direct contact with sellers (18 percent). In terms of monthly spending, respondents with more than 2,000 yuan are relatively more inclined to contact sellers directly.

High-income households buy most frequently

From the type of second-hand goods, clothing, daily necessities, electronic products purchase frequency is high.

In terms of household income, respondents from high-income households (more than 500,000 yuan) bought second-hand goods the most frequently, followed by those with a household income between 20,000 and 100,000 yuan. From the perspective of gender, the frequency of female interviewees in ordinary families (less than 200,000 yuan) buying transportation is lower than that of male interviewees, the frequency of male interviewees buying daily necessities is higher than that of female interviewees, and the frequency of female interviewees buying clothes is higher than that of male interviewees in ordinary families.

Secondary market knowledge and resale frequency

In terms of monthly living expenses, most respondents spend between 1,000 and 2,000 yuan (58%), followed by 2,000 to 3,000 yuan (20%).

In terms of resale frequency, 41% of respondents have never sold second-hand goods, 59% have resold them, 39% rarely sell them exclusively, and only 4% resell them frequently. Most people have some knowledge about resale of second-hand market (81%), those who have no knowledge about it (19%) or have some knowledge about it (52%) have never sold second-hand goods account for a large proportion (71%, 32%), and those who have some knowledge about second-hand market (6%) have also sold second-hand goods in the highest proportion (86%).
