preface

You might be thinking,Is Android development getting worse? Is the front end getting hot?

This happened to a friend of mine

I graduated in June 2016, and my first job was Android development. In early January 2018, I quit my job and started from scratch. I taught myself Web front-end development at home for two months. In March, I started to look for Web front-end work and found a job by the end of March.

Android development is not a recession, now, every mobile phone, APP development is definitely needed, but the boom of APP development has passed, now the lack of junior staff, but intermediate, senior, experts.

In the second half of the Internet, it is almost impossible to start a business by developing an APP. The difficulty is not the development cost, but the operating cost.

Moving from Android development to Web front-end development is for no other reason than pure interest. You see the website development, mobile Web development, friends in the H5 active page, small program development, public number development, they all belong to the category of Web front-end development.

About the naked resignation

There is a saying: “naked quit poor for half a year”.

If you haven’t found a good job, don’t resign naked until you have to. That’s my advice to your conscience. Let’s first analyze why.

Let’s say you’re just a year or two out of college. If you quit naked, you might face the following problems:

  • The deposit in Alipay is not much, and the money may have been spent before finding a good job, and the next month’s rent may not be settled.

  • If you’re single, you’re on your own. Even if self-control is strong, stay at home for a long time, it is easy to become decadent and degenerate, and then give up on yourself. You may even feel that the outside world doesn’t matter to you and feel the urge to escape.

  • If you’re in a relationship, it’s easy to be disliked by your partner because you don’t have an income. Maybe she’ll support your ideals at first. But over time, there will be a lot of problems and conflicts between them, that’s for sure.

Assuming you already have a family, the pressure to quit naked should be even greater.

This assumes, of course, that you have a great deal of self-control. Many people become lazy after graduation, especially if you have no self-control.

In that case, why did I resign naked?

First of all, I have determined that I want to do Web front-end development in the future, but I have almost no foundation and experience in this field. If I directly look for related work, it is obviously impossible to find it. Therefore, I need to study by myself for a period of time before looking for a job.

One might think, “Aren’t they all programmers? Is there such a big difference between Android development and Web front-end development?” Then I will give you the analogy, hospital registration is also divided into different departments, surgeons to become physicians, naturally not so easy. Similarly, those who fit the characteristics of full-stack engineers are also in the minority.

I’ve tried to use my after-work evenings and weekends to study, but found that even if I don’t work overtime, there’s very little time available: socializing, exercising, dining out, sleeping in, cooking occasionally, single people looking to meet someone, people in a relationship going out on weekends…

Time is our most honest friend, but our greatest enemy is not enough time.

Therefore, in order to be able to let oneself have enough time to focus on systematic learning, only naked resignation. It is said that “jin SAN Yin Si” is the golden period for the social recruitment to find a job, so I plan to quit in early January, study for two months, and just look for a job in March. In fact, I followed that plan. Here is my learning roadmap

Here’s my piece of advice: If you want to change, do it now. If you do not grasp the golden opportunity, you may have to wait another year.

Of course, some would argue that jobs can be found at any time, regardless of off-season or peak season. But that’s only for people with power.

Risk and fallback

If your job is one of the following:

  • Work in a company, can not see the future prospects, but the current job is basically competent

  • The salary is not high, but I can make ends meet, but I have no savings

  • Two years, and I only got a $1,000 raise. The increase is not very high, but keeps in balance with inflation and price rises.

  • Also thought about job-hopping, but the wings are not hard enough, where can fly?

At this point, it’s time to consider a transition. Sure, there may be other reasons, but just looking at a person’s salary and outlook, these are enough reasons to jump ship.

Another option is: “Even if my job isn’t perfect, it’s not too bad. I can stay. I don’t have to choose.” Yes, of course you can leave everything as it is. But don’t stay put while hoping to become rich and financially free.

There is a risk in making any decision, but there is no reward without risk.

Giving is a risk in itself. For example, one may fail to take the postgraduate entrance exam and lose the best opportunity to find a job. However, if one takes the postgraduate entrance exam while looking for a job, it will not benefit both sides. At this time only a firm choice of one of the road, can not give their retreat.

Here’s my advice: If you stay in your comfort zone, you’ll end up in the panic zone.

Two months of naked resignation

I can study at home for eight hours a day for two or three months without any problems. I have some self-control. However, after graduation, there is no pure learning environment for anyone. There may be financial pressures, internal inhibitions, uncertainty about the future, and, of course, the emotions of others.

This is part of the source code I follow to learn

During these two months of naked resignation, I have to face two problems: on the one hand, the more I learn, the more I feel I don’t have enough time, because THERE are so many things I can’t learn; The other is psychological and economic pressure.

On February 16, 2018, I had been studying by myself for more than a month, but I found that I had learned less than one third of what I had planned. I started to panic. During the Spring Festival in my hometown, I learned some content, but not much.

In late February, I returned to Shenzhen to continue studying as a full-time job. I had planned to start looking for a job at the beginning of March, but I didn’t think I had studied well and dared not look for a job. So, in early March, I went back to study for two weeks. I didn’t start looking for a job until mid-March.

Now that I think about it, I’m never ready. Your best bet: go to interviews as early as possible and take notes of any questions you encounter during each interview. The more bumps you face, the faster you’ll make progress. I don’t know about other areas, but just looking at the Web front end, there’s a very, very high rate of repetition.

I’ve been looking for a job for a month

This month of sea investment, feeling a lot. Say something about my general experience, coordinates shenzhen.

Social recruitment, “no front-end experience” these words, basic can be most of the company despise off, the company recruited no experience of the graduating students can.

Mid-march, while pushing inward to BAT. Two working days later, Tencent informed me that I was about to enter the stage of interview arrangement, but I haven’t received any news yet. Perhaps the company needs to become the most remembered before it becomes the most admired.

When pushed to Ali and Baidu, resume is brushed quickly, is also expected.

It made headlines today, but the resume passed. But the first round of pen-based tests, most of them don’t. But it was my first interview.

I pushed it to Oppo, and the official said that I would reply within three working days, but I didn’t get any news after waiting for a week. Let the classmate take the initiative to ask when, just know is resume did not pass.

When it comes to Webank, the person who received my resume should be a leader. He called a front-end engineer to arrange a meeting with me. The interviewer asked me ten questions related to JavaScript, but I was probably only half right. However, the leader did not give up on me and asked me some basic information. Then he said, “I will arrange a second interview for you next week, so you should prepare well.” I waited for more than a dozen days, but I couldn’t care less. (Two weeks later, Wechat contacted me, but by then I had already found a job.)

Pushed so much, all ended in failure, I decided to pull hook, boss zhipin, 51job Shanghai cast. Hundreds of them, but they were basically rejected.

During the period of overseas investment, I met two companies: Ping An Bank and China Merchants Bank, but they did not pass. Another company invited me for an interview. When I arrived at the interview site, I was asked to do logical reasoning questions first. As soon as I saw the questions, I left without hesitation. Because it’s a waste of youth, so I’m going to take one of the questions and give you a feel for it:

When I invested overseas, I filtered out all the companies with less than 100 employees. Maybe my hand shook accidentally and I sent in a small startup company (with about 30 employees). On the one hand, we had a telephone technical interview. We talked for an hour and felt very congenial. The second interview is a direct conversation with the CEO. Finally, I got the offer and the salary reached my expectation. I discussed the entry time with the other party, and I seemed to feel that the sentence “I will train myself in a start-up company, and my comprehensive ability will be fully reflected” could be fully reflected in me. To my surprise, I turned down the offer the night before I was hired for reasons I won’t go into detail. I just didn’t want to go.

Yes, I turned down the company without any other offers. It was the end of March.

I even thought about the worst scenario: if I couldn’t find a job, I might try to do “we media”, although it would be a difficult path.

At the same time, I tried to push into JINGdong. In just one afternoon, I went through jingdong’s technical written test and three rounds of interview (technical interview, boss interview and HR interview). On the third meeting, HR said they would inform me next Monday. As a result, I did not wait for the notice from HR next Monday, but received a round of technical interview in the form of telephone from JINGdong. After a whole week of waiting, I finally received JD’s official offer at the end of March.

I am currently working as a front-end developer. If you also want to learn front-end development technology, you can apply to join my front-end learning exchange skirt: front: 421 middle: 374 last: 697 if you have any questions about learning methods, learning routes and learning efficiency during the process of learning the front-end. Inside gathered some are learning front-end beginners, career change, the first stage, I also have here I do front-end technology this time sorted out some front-end learning mind map, front-end factory interview questions, front-end source development tutorial, PDF document books tutorial, the article involved in the ① learning roadmap and learning notes; ② Source code notes; ③ Interview questions and other PDF documents can be obtained from the skirt pig.

Here are two tips for you:

  • It’s better to go as far as possible in your job search. Best of all, the hr will be able to take a second look at your resume in the crowd.

  • The repetition rate is very high in technical tests and interviews, so after each interview, be sure to record and sort out the questions.

Every interviewer asks me, “Why did you transition from Android to the front end?” In the first few interviews, my answer was just “because OF interest”. But as it turned out, that answer didn’t seem to move anyone. So I came up with an answer, and that’s what I did in every interview. Here are the answers:

The first is out of the love of the front end, so just made a firm determination; Secondly, front-end development and Android development both belong to the big front-end field, and they have a lot in common. In the process of mastering the front-end, I got started relatively smoothly. Thirdly, under the premise of having other technical knowledge, to do front-end development may be able to better think about problems from a global perspective.
