NativeScript is an open source framework for developing mobile applications on the iOS and Android platforms. It was originally conceived and developed by Progress. In late 2019, the NativeScript project was taken over by Progress’s longtime partner, nStudio. In December 2020, nStudio added NativeScript to the OpenJS Foundation as an incubation project. NativeScript applications are built using JavaScript, or by using any programming language that is ported to JavaScript, such as TypeScript. NativeScript supports both Angular and Vue JavaScript frameworks. Mobile apps built with NativeScript result in completely native apps that use the same API as apps developed in Xcode or Android Studio. In addition, software developers can reuse third-party libraries in CocoaPods, Maven, and nPm.js in mobile applications without using wrappers.
