Microsoft announced plans to launch its xCloud gaming streaming service on Apple devices via Safari “in the coming weeks,” following a beta test with a small number of users.
Microsoft has been trying to launch its game streaming service on Apple’s platform for some time, allowing users to stream games from the cloud rather than storing them locally on the device.
Last year, Microsoft and Apple engaged in a heated public dispute over App Store rules that denied apps like xCloud access to the App Store.
Apple eventually changed its policy to allow such apps on its platform, but required that every game made available through the service be submitted for review independently.
Microsoft has decided not to implement the new policy, instead offering users access to xCloud through Safari on iphones and ipads.
In addition to xCloud on Safari, the streaming service will also be available on Edge and Chrome.
