Take LT86102SX as an example:
The LT86102SX is Lontium’s 4th generation 2-port HDMI/DVI splitter that can repeat one HDMI/DVI signal to two HDMI/DVI signal sets, supporting up to two different HDMI/DVI receiving/display terminals. Based on CleerEdge™ technology, it supports data rates up to 3.4Gbps per channel, conforming to the HDMI1.4/DVI1.0 specification. The device consists of a pair of ODTs, an adaptive equalizer and a CDR circuit, as well as a detone driver with an optional back-end on each data channel at the transmitter side. The clock channel provides high-performance PLL and regenerates low jitter output clocks for data recovery. The LT86102SX handles HDCP decryption/encryption and transfers data to 2 HDMI/DVI ports. The HDCP repeater engine in the LT86102SX handles all the processing required for authentication, decryption, and encryption in the hardware. This greatly reduces the overhead of external microcontroller and the complexity of firmware. However, to be more flexible, the LT86102SX also offers the option of a software-controlled mode in which HDCP operation is completely controlled by an external SCM. The pre-programmed HDCP keyset simplifies the use of HDCP functionality and reduces the cost of BOM. However, users can also use external key sets through ESCL/ESDA ports. The LT86102SX integrates EDID shadow RAM for better compatibility and reduced system complexity. The embedded EDID can access the upstream port before the external microcontroller loads the actual EDID. The LT86102SX is manufactured using advanced CMOS processes and is supplied in 80-wire LQFP packs and is specified in temperature ranges from -40°C to +85°C.
Application: Multiple displays/TVS support splitting/repeating of HDMI/DVI signals
