Linux Permission Control

1. An overview of the

Linux allows users to read and write execution files, access directories, and view directory additions and deletions. Users cannot perform all operations at will.

We understand the Linux permission control system from the following aspects:

  • User management
  • User Group Management
  • File Permission Information
  • Chmod, CHGRP, and chown commands

2. Users and user groups

A user is an account used to log in to the Linux system. A user group is a group of users with the same permissions for easy management, similar to the concept of “roles” in the permission control system in Java development.

If you do not specify a user group when you create an account, Linux automatically creates a user group with the same name.

Note: When you delete a user, the process of the user may still be running and cannot be deleted. In this case, you need to run the kill -9 process ID command to kill the process
