One of the most common problems with macOS is how to quickly find multiple Windows, and this week’s Twitter project Yabai addresses this problem. Directly tiled all Windows, is not very “positive”. Also very “on point” is Budibas, a low-code platform that lets you quickly pull up your own one-page app. There’s also AdGuard Home, which blocks ads and blocks everything, and DNS takes care of your blocking problem at its root.

The following is an excerpt from GitHub Trending and Hacker News hot post (HN Hot post for short) on weibo @helloGithub. Newly released | | practical and interesting, according to the project classification, the release time release time not more than 14 project will mark the New day, without the mark shows the project release more than half. 1.1 Tiled Window manager: Yabai

Star growth this week: 700+

Yabai is a tiling window manager for macOS. Similar to awesome for Linux, Yabai adaptively tils all your open Windows. How to adapt tiling Windows on a screen is also an art, you can learn how to deal with adaptive styles through this project.

Typical Notion: focalboard & Appflowy

Notion is really a well-known product, so this week there are two projects that claim to be open source alternatives to it: Focalboard & AppFlowy, just put together. Focalboard is a Notion version of Trello-like card management mode that can be self-hosted on its own server. Appflowy, which can also self-host data, is like a lite version of Notion. Personally, I prefer appFlowy’s UI (with a larger font size). In terms of implementation languages, Focalboard is written in TS and Go, while AppFlowy uses the relatively minor ones Rust and Flutter.

Here are the FocalBoard & AppFlowy interfaces:

2.2 Real-time Data Governance: DataHub

Star growth this week: 250+

DataHub is really a productivity tool. It’s open sourced by the Linkedin team to deal with metadata management, and it acts as a data discovery tool (a data directory) to figure out what data sets exist in your company and how to test them.

2.5 AD blocking: AdGuard Home

Star growth this week: 100+

AdGuard Home is a web-wide software for AD blocking and tracking. Once set up, it will cover all your home devices and you won’t need any client software. It acts as a DNS server and redirects the tracking domains (which you set up) to a “black hole” that prevents your device from connecting to those servers.
