Although it is the first anniversary of my official entry, IN fact, I came to Tencent as an intern in the summer vacation of my junior year, so it has been two years.
Today, I would like to share with you my experiences and insights in Tencent in the past two years.

I remember that I received the offer of summer internship in Tencent around April in my junior year. At that time, I was still struggling with whether to pursue postgraduate education or get a job. However, I think the internship opportunity in a big factory is very valuable, so I still choose to accept the internship. If it is the worst, I will prepare for postgraduate/autumn recruitment while practicing. If I am tired, I will be tired.

Around the end of June, I started my internship in Tencent.
At the beginning of the work without any pressure, the feeling is to do miscellaneous work, writing, add, delete, change and check. But still young and full of energy, the work is too simple, even if it is to add, delete, change and check the simple work, but in a large company to write and write a Demo is still very different.
Sure enough, within two weeks of working, I overturned the car. Because I was not familiar with the system, I put in handwritten codes, so there were many problems, which led to the failure to deliver the work as expected.
Later, I gradually developed the habit of thinking more, designing more and thinking about the big picture before writing code.
In the first semester of my senior year, AFTER passing the defense of becoming a full-time employee through summer internship, I asked for a one-month leave and went back to school. On the one hand, I carefully thought about my life, whether to pursue graduate study or employment. On the other hand, we are waiting for the offer communication from the company. After some confusion, I chose to work directly and accepted the offer from Tencent.
After that, I was supposed to stay in school and enjoy my last years of college. However, AFTER reading the company’s promotion system, I learned that graduates can be promoted in advance as interns. Therefore, I chose to continue my internship in Tencent without hesitation. I commuted between school and company every day, but I really didn’t want to take the crowded Shanghai Metro Line 9 any more.
As the internship lasted longer and my tutor gave me more space to play, I gradually got in touch with and studied the new technologies of more companies.
I remember that in the second semester of my senior year, I could not go back to school due to the epidemic, so I had to continue my internship in Tencent online. During that time, I independently designed and developed a high-concurrency system, which I shared with you:
A week to launch a million level of high concurrency system, although it looks ordinary now, but it was quite a sense of achievement.

The formal work
First of all, I have experienced many trainings, including those of company level, BG level, organization level and department level. There are too many.
What impressed me most was the company-level closed training in Shanghai. It was interesting to get to know each other and learn the company culture together with the graduates locked up in a hotel.
At the beginning of everyone around a circle of self-introduction, really frightened me, although not everyone in the north of Qing Dynasty, but most of them are overseas, 985, 211 universities, I a 211 small really frightened (true).
But later, when I trained and exchanged with them, I found that everyone was very sincere and friendly, and I also made many excellent student friends.

Because I had been an intern for one year before my official work, I was not so awkward as I was when I first entered the company, so I started to work easily.
In fact, the formal work content is the same as before. Every day, we still have meetings to discuss requirements, design schemes, write code and fix bugs. There is nothing special about it.
However, the pressure on the body is greater, after all, there is no school this umbrella, even if the work is not satisfied, can not run. As my working hours have increased and my responsibilities have increased, I am now able to carry the flag of a new project independently.
When I first started working, I was very motivated. I left work at 10-11 PM every day, and occasionally had to work overtime. I know it is not too late for many students, but in fact, in addition to the basic work, I also try to participate in the construction of some projects of the company, read the articles of the company’s knowledge base, and write some articles by myself.
But later, I found that graduates need to have passion for work, yes, but not all in work, “sell” yourself to the company, or give yourself some time to study and develop interest. That’s one of the reasons I started knowledge sharing in the first place.

Having experienced the seamless transition from campus internship to formal work and from student to workplace, I have also changed a lot.
growth
Two years of work, growth is still a lot, although the basic are some mandarin ha ha, such as:
- Technology has grown and learned a lot of technology that was never heard of before
- I broadened my horizon, saw something more important than technology, and increased my understanding of business and industry
- Think more comprehensively and consider the big picture
- Improved communication skills, less nonsense to focus on the point
There are requirements design ability, document writing ability and so on, the mentality is also more calm.

There are some gains and losses, and there are some “unspeakable” changes besides growth.
For example, while learning technology on the job, you also forget a lot of technology. Front-end React and back-end Java are often used in my work. I have forgotten the framework language I learned before because I have not used it for a long time, not to mention the questions I brushed and knowledge points I memorized during the interview.
Then, it’s true that work is not as interesting as school, and the day after day is mediocre, and you barely talk to anyone except for your communication needs. When you encounter difficulties at work, you have to solve them yourself, and you can only learn to tolerate them. Just realized that a lot of reality is really very real, working people have no temper.
There is a really bald head! Can’t say hair like rain, also volatilize like rain, a big sun is rising slowly.

In fact, these two years of work life, there are joy, sad; Have slack, have burst liver; There are achievements and unwillingness. There are so many things I want to say. Here are some of my deepest feelings.
Crouching tiger, hidden dragon
First of all, there are too many talented people in big companies. Although there are examples of those with a bachelor’s degree or below, most of them are graduate students or university graduates. Open the company’s internal knowledge sharing platform, look at the big guy’s article, is really admire.
Even so, you are no worse than them. After work, I have communicated and cooperated with too many excellent students, but I don’t feel inferior because they are better than you and older than you. On the contrary, I can learn a lot of knowledge, attitude and way of thinking from these excellent students. They are great “resources” that help me grow.
Work at a fast pace
The pace of work in a big factory is really fast. Although I am engaged in ToB business, I also feel this, and I really cannot relax. Sometimes I want to give myself a holiday, but when I think of the next day, I still have to make up the work I owe yesterday, SO I have not used up one day of my annual leave for the whole year!
However, I also have a solution to deal with the fast pace of work. On the one hand, I organize the work at hand, divide the big requirements into multiple sub-requirements, prioritize them, and finish them one by one according to the priority. On the other hand, I should design more before doing the requirements and take the overall situation into consideration. I should try my best to avoid unnecessary and repetitive work, and at the same time maintain absolute focus and efficiency at work (so send me wechat during working hours, most of which I can’t see).
Although the pace is fast, but relatively, can bring me more rapid growth. In most cases, you can get off work at 8 o ‘clock in the evening, and weekends are two days off. Don’t believe the myth that big companies are 996. Different companies, different departments, and even different members of the same department may get off work at different times.
unstable
The Internet is so unstable! During my internship, I experienced an organizational structure adjustment and changed departments once. In addition, after changing departments, my work content is also changing, and I will write this and that for a while, and some projects are left unfinished halfway through. Only recently did I focus on a new project.
I am not the only one in this situation. When COMMUNICATING with other friends, I found that they have also faced or experienced demand reduction, department “optimization” and organizational structure adjustment. Therefore, it is better not to be all-in and keep alert and flexible.
Have a goal and no goal
In contrast to school, you need to program for requirements after work, as if you have a purpose — to fulfill requirements, to get a raise in salary.
But repetitive work is inevitable and sometimes mind-numbing. It lies flat under the gravity of the earth and gradually loses its purpose, leaving only the repetitive work day after day.
So our vision must be put in the long run, contact more than their better people, look at the outside world, to find their own repulsion.
The instability of Internet work is a repulsive force for us, so we should learn more by ourselves, participate in open source projects, improve technology, and accumulate summary. The best state is always ready and able to change jobs at any time.
Rumors crushing
After working in Tencent, I realized that many rumors about the company were rumors, such as “big companies are 996, 007”, “Tencent programmers only know C++”, “big factory programmers knock more code every day” and so on. Now it’s just a joke.
Good welfare package
Finally, the benefits of big companies are really amazing and the working environment is great. Of course, the most important thing is money, for me, a poor student just graduated, money is really too important.
To sum up, as a graduate to join the goose factory, I feel very lucky. Large companies with fast pace, abundant resources, strong technology and access to a larger number of projects can bring them greater challenges and room for growth. So give me another chance, and I’ll vote Internet.
Of course, I do not advise everyone to enter the Internet factory, after all, the pressure is still quite big. But in any case, I hope everyone can enter the factory as the goal, learn more technology, there will be no loss. Don’t be like those sour grapes people on the Internet, listening to the wind and rain, brainlessly advise everyone to give up.
First have the conditions to choose, and then consider whether to enter the big factory, is better than no choice.
