Hi, I’m Mingo.

Today is the weekend. I didn’t want to post technical articles due to my low reading of technical articles during the weekend. When I was browsing Github, I suddenly found a new function on Github, which is a good news for heavy usage of Github.

Before talking about this new function, I first quote, take the current article you read public account as an example, readers of the article Action has the following four:

  • Favorites: may be useful later, add favorites to facilitate follow-up search

  • Thumbs up: No use to yourself, but the article is great, thumbs up encouragement

  • Retweet: This is a great article and may be helpful to others

  • Reading: Let a friend know that I read this article and think it’s good

In addition to watching is the feature of wechat as a social software, the other three are almost all text/video carriers standard configuration.

There are also three actions for Github’s repository:

  • Watch: The project is good. I am very interested in it and want to follow the follow-up of the project.

  • Fork: Nice project, I’d like to do some secondary development on it, or contribute some code

  • Star: Good project, click Star to support the author, or just want to collect.

Those of you who regularly use Github must have the same uncomfortable problem that I do, which is that star acts as both a “like” function and a “favorites” function.

As time goes by, you will find that you have clicked more and more stars. Originally, STAR was just for collection, which is convenient for searching later, but now if you want to find the warehouse you once collected among thousands of stars? You can only use the search function, so the original star collection becomes meaningless.

To solve this problem, a number of developers have developed browser plug-ins to help you manage these stars, such as Star Manager, The Fucking GitHub, etc

After today, you can uninstall these third-party plugins because Github already supports favorites.

Now, if you go to Github, you will notice that the original Star button is different. Suddenly, there is a drop-down button.

As you can see from the default recommendation favorites, the original Star was a mess, filling so many roles.

Instead of using the default favorites, click Create List to create your own categories

Also under the Stars page, you can create your own favorites.

You can see the Beta label in the lower left corner. Do you know that this feature is currently grayscale? Still open, you can have a look, there are suggestions on the use of the link to feedback.

As soon as I discovered this feature, I created two favorites

Then the warehouses clicked on star are classified one by one

According to the preliminary judgment, the current list function is only suitable for personal classification and does not have the transmission attribute, that is, you cannot collect other people’s favorites, refer to Zhihu favorites, and you cannot see the list created by others.

In purely functional terms, Gitee next door is mocking:It’s all left over from my game.

It turns out that Gitee has already launched the star collection function. Github, as the big brother, needs to cheer up

The above is today’s content, we read the article, you can go to tidy up their favorites.
