Reporter: Hello, first of all, please introduce yourself briefly.
Yao Dong: Hello, MY name is Yao Dong. I have nearly 20 years of working experience, including more than 10 years of communication software development and management, and more than 8 years of r&d management consulting experience. Over the past six years, he has worked in IBM Software Division, Rational product line, and served as Technical Director for Greater China, Tech Lead for financial industry, Industry Architect, Lean/Agile Solution evangelist, and Senior Technical Consultant. She has served clients including ICBC, BOC, CCB, ABC, AVIC, CNPC and CLP, providing consulting and suggestions on r&d process improvement, as well as project implementation. My expertise is in R&D process improvement, agile development and DevOps theory and practice, and I am also a certified Scrum Master, SAFe Agilist.
Reporter: What areas were you responsible for at IBM? What attracted you to MSUP? What are you responsible for in MSUP now?
Yao Dong: Before that, I was responsible for the implementation and promotion of Rational products, solutions and methodologies in Greater China, bringing excellent R&D management practices to the enterprise, and working as a lean and Agile evangelist, working with the association and community to promote the implementation of agile, Lean and DevOps concepts in China.
At that time, I had many times of cooperation and communication with Liu Fuqiang, General Manager of MSUP. Msup is focused on the rapid growth of technology-based teams. After that, I had a long talk with Manager Liu for several times, and had in-depth discussion on the level of enterprise-level technical services, and also gave a lot of suggestions to each other. At present, I am mainly responsible for consulting and training business in MSUP, aiming to transform the enterprise service from shallow to deep, and better implement our technology accumulation into enterprises, so as to grow together with more enterprises. For me, on the premise of an open platform without system constraints, I can be free to do things that return to the essence of technology without forgetting my original intention, which is also what I am very excited and enthusiastic about.
Reporter: How did the idea come about? What is the current implementation situation?
Yao Dong: MSUP’s previous business focuses on technical conferences, workshops, corporate training and all kinds of online and offline activities. In fact, it is a very good system, from conferences, online and offline activities to the entrance, hands-on experience through workshops, and corporate training to teach systematic content to employees. Consulting goes a step further, teaching people how to fish, combining the coach’s experience with the current state of the business. So the whole is an inverted pyramid shape, from shallow to deep, the conference and activity is an exposure, training is further, and consulting is the most in-depth and landing. In fact, such consensus was reached when I first communicated with General Liu. Later, I discussed the idea for many times and refined it until now. Consulting services cover the range of product innovation, research and development process improvement, engineering practice, and even the most cutting-edge and hot technologies such as big data and artificial intelligence to help enterprises to implement.
Reporter: what is the distinction that Msup does enterprise consultation and enterprise groom?
Yao Dong: As mentioned earlier, consulting is the next step of enterprise training, which is a natural process. Yao Dong: I have a credo: long-distance running and reading, body and mind, there is always one on the way.
I like sports, but I don’t like long-distance running since I was young. I used to prefer competitive team sports, such as basketball, badminton, tennis and so on. Until four years ago, I started long-distance running. After two months, I became obsessed with it and suddenly found true love. Running is about having a conversation with your body and mind, feeling inside, pushing your physical limits, emptying and enjoying the endorphin rush. All of these are similar to joining MSUP.
