To introduce myself

Hello, everyone, MY name is Lin Linzi. Unconsciously, I have been working as an intern in Byte for two and a half months. I want to record my growth during this period and share it with my classmates, so that more students can know about my internship life in Byte.

After the interview

I came to Byte through three rounds of technicals, three days from the first to the third. Looking back on the interview process, it was a great experience, with no anxiety about the outcome. The interviewers were punctual. They would first explain the content of the interview and then say a few words to me. After I gradually relaxed, I began to get to the point. During the whole process, the interviewer was very gentle. The interviewer will guide me to answer questions that I don’t know. When the algorithm was done, the interviewer would look at my code carefully and give suggestions for optimization. On the day after the interview, THE HR girl would inform me of the interview result and make an appointment with me. It was very efficient.

Into the pre-service

Byte assigns a Mentor to each newcomer. When I was about one month old, my supervisor and my Leader began to contact me and offered me a lot of help in both study and life, such as information and advice on renting a house and knowledge to learn before entering the job.

In the day

The tutors and supervisors welcomed him warmly. My tutor would take me to the morning meeting, fly to the book group, and introduce me one by one at the workstation. My colleagues were also very energetic, talking and laughing, and we were familiar with each other. Because the company has a canteen, we will eat together, and then take a walk together after dinner, enjoy the cats and fish together… . So, I soon fit into this new family.

Mini Project

On the day of my entry, I just caught the new Mini Project (similar to the boot camp), so IN the first half month after my entry, I focused on the Mini Project training camp.

In this process, I exposed a lot of problems, but also because of these problems, let me in just half a month, a lot of harvest. When I first got the requirements document, I was not fully familiar with the requirements, so I was in a hurry to implement the functions. Sure enough, do the back of the feeling in front of the scheme is not appropriate, to achieve all kinds of problems. After thinking about it, I felt the need to rework and change a plan, but I wanted to struggle, so I went to ask my tutor in disgrace. Tutor A long expected expression said to me, “I know you will encounter problems here, but I can’t tell you at the beginning, you need to step on the pit you can know why I want to do the technical scheme, scheme selection, why DO I choose A not choose B……” . At the risk of being ridiculed by me, my mentor made this opening speech. In fact, this is also the style my mentor led me. My colleague said that this is “experiential guidance and learning for stepping on pits”.

In terms of expertise, the mentors guide me and give me opportunities to try and make mistakes and explore in specific scenes. Although the process is very uncomfortable, but there is no shortcut to growth, a lot of things need me to step on the pit, the next time I know how to do. I probably wouldn’t have delved into so many details if my mentor had given me the go-ahead.

Of course, it was my teammates who kept me going during this period, apart from my mentor who pushed me at critical moments. My teammates are really good and humble and easy to get along with. No matter who has a problem, everyone helps to solve it. Whoever stepped on the pit would tell everyone in the group how to avoid the pit here. Teammates write examples of unfamiliar points in similar usage scenarios and tell others how to use them. These fairy teammates keep me going without feeling too much pressure.

After the whole experience of Mini Project, we gained a lot. Finally, our team also got the second place. Mini Project helped me to practice basic skills in specific business and get familiar with the research and development process of byte, which helped me to quickly land in this new company.

The business started

After the Mini Project, I worked with my tutor on the Project. The first requirement is an urgent one, and the biggest feeling is that the workload assessment is hopeless. How much work is there in a day? Can I work this out all day? I mean, it was a little scary. When making the technical scheme, I tried very hard to dismantle it carefully and consider comprehensively in advance. However, in the technical review, I still found that there were many places that were not considered carefully after the review by my colleagues. Fortunately, my tutor was there. In this way, the first requirement was reviewed by colleagues again and again, and finally was successfully launched. Recalling the whole process, I was glad that many questions were raised in time during the review. Every review of the new and senior is an improvement. In fact, it was the first time for me to complete such a big online demand at once. I was very happy that day and it was an important milestone in my career.

Of course, after starting the business, the tutor will continue to follow up my learning status. Byte is tolerant enough for interns, providing many opportunities to get started and practice, which is really a good training opportunity for students recruited by the school.

After two months on the job, my biggest feeling is that the team leader is very concerned about the growth of new employees and regards the cultivation of new employees as his OKR. Mentors are also very willing to output and give me maximum guidance. Therefore, the presence of supervisors and mentors made my two-month internship learning experience very great. After I got familiar with everything here, I gradually felt the charm of this team.

Outside of work

Most of our team members have graduated less than three years ago. They are all very young, and young people still have a rich life. Wednesday is activity day, after 5:30, the team will organize some activities, such as: dinner party, karaoke, Avalon, billiards, basketball, bowling, Texas, script kill…… It’s got everything you can think of, and it’s rich. In half a year, THERE will be a big travel party. My colleagues will play and eat, and I can enjoy myself without thinking. Just put up some pictures and share them with everyone.

By the way, in addition to free meals and afternoon tea, bybyte also provides free gym and swimming pool in the campus activity center. There is also a recreation area for games, karaoke, hoops and foosball. You can come to relax when you’re tired of work. My colleagues kept regular exercise habits, and UNDER their influence, I also learned to swim. However, because of the delicious meals, I only swam to keep my weight down.

Byte staff care is also done very well, on holidays, major festivals, are full of ceremony.

Write in the last

Internship is a pony crossing the river, experience first hand to know what is like. Finding a team that works for you is a matter of luck. I think I was lucky. Byte’s autumn recruitment advance approval is about to open. I wish you all a satisfying job and a happy life. Next, I have to prepare for my regular examination ~😄
