Person re-ID algorithm can track, match and identify the target human body (population) across time and space, which is one of the research hotspots of computer vision in recent years.
Tencent Youtu has made a breakthrough in its Person Re-ID algorithm. Using the latest algorithm, the team ranked first in all three major databases for identifying people’s weight.
In the databases of Market-1501, DukemTMC-Reid and CUHK03, key indexes of Tencent mAP (average accuracy mean) reached 87.9%, 78.81% and 76.78% respectively, all of which achieved the top performance in the current academic and industrial circles. Especially in CUHK03 database, Tencent Youtu achieved a breakthrough of improving the performance of human weight recognition by 5.58%!
The performance breakthrough lies in two core technologies of Tencent Youtu’s weight recognition algorithm: alternate training of multi-task framework and pyramid model based on blocks. Through the successful application of these two core technologies, Tencent Youtu has achieved an improvement of at least 6.34% relative to the original baseline model in the three mainstream databases.
With the development of human weight recognition technology, human weight recognition is showing great application value. In the field of criminal investigation, the characteristic of human body feature modeling by human body weight recognition algorithm is consistent with the demand of human body image retrieval in criminal investigation work. In the field of retail, human weight recognition algorithm can help supermarket operators to obtain effective customer track, and further dig commercial value. In the field of intelligent security and intelligent transportation, the successful implementation of relevant systems also depends on robust and high-performance human weight recognition algorithms.
At present, human weight recognition algorithm has become one of the most important basic technologies of Tencent Youtu in video surveillance and other fields.
The breakthrough of Tencent Youtu human weight recognition algorithm has promoted the further development of related technologies and laid a solid foundation for the implementation of technical solutions in more scenario-oriented fields. In the future, Tencent Youtu’s human weight recognition algorithm will continue to promote research and is expected to be implemented in more shopping malls and supermarkets, helping the retail industry realize digital transformation and upgrading.
