preface

Recently in the busy recruitment of things, this update will talk about the recruitment of the first step – resume.

The body of the

Resume is a job seeker’s stepping stone, how to write a good resume? Start with two roles.

One, the recruiter

One of the most obvious problems facing employers is sifting through piles of resumes. Here is my profile on a job site. Click on it to view my resume in detail.

What are the most important factors that employers pay attention to? According to the level of judging cost, from low to high, they are education background < school < company < project < technical ability < comprehensive quality.

Most employers spend 10% of their time screening 90% of resumes and the other 90% selecting the remaining 10% for interviews; Perhaps 90% of resumes contain some great talent, but because of the high cost of digging it out, few recruiters are looking for a needle in the haystack.

  • Record of formal schooling. Education is the most direct embodiment, many large companies the most basic requirement is a bachelor’s degree; It is not discrimination against majors, but as mentioned above, most of majors are difficult to meet the requirements of big companies, so few employers will spend much effort on screening;

  • The school. The school endorses the applicant’s academic career in the past ten years. A good school background proves that he has good learning ability or is willing to spend time on it.

The two factors can not be changed for most job seekers, and it is also easy to screen, so recruiters commonly use Filter.

  • The company. For people who have worked for a certain number of years, the company experience can be very rich; We first look at candidates from the top companies in the industry, but resumes like this are rarely seen on job boards and are usually sent through internal promotions or headhunters. Next are all kinds of exclusive animals, well-known companies from the people; Finally, small and medium-sized companies out of the job seekers, this time the company may be very good, but the recruiter may not understand. So, if the company is not well known but it’s actually a good one sentence about the company.

  • The project. Projects are the main achievements of past work, but at the level of specific projects, it is not easy to directly screen through projects. And if HR is the employer, it may not be able to judge the quality of the resume directly through the project.

  • Technical ability. Technical skills are one of the most important skills you have as a developer, but the interview is the main testing process. As a resume, use broad language to state your basic skills.

  • Comprehensive quality. This is an important skill that doesn’t come easily on a resume.

Among the appeal factors, the company cannot change, and the comprehensive quality is not easy to reflect, but there is still a large room for improvement in the project and technical ability, which is also the part that the applicant needs to refine and summarize repeatedly.

Ii. Job seekers

Now that you know what recruiters are looking for, let’s talk about what makes a great resume. Recommend a clear resume structure:

1. Introduce yourself at the beginning and explain the general situation of the work.

Summarize your work experience in three short sentences and highlight your best points. There are two requirements, one is the language concise, highlight; Second, the logic is smooth and the evidence is clear.

Take refinement as an example, you often see the description of “familiar with MVC, familiar with KVO, familiar with GCD multithreading”, which can be summarized as familiar with Objective-C programming; Also, I recommend not even writing this, because it’s a no-brainer: Being familiar with Objective-C/Swift is a basic requirement for an iOS job interview and doesn’t need to take up valuable head space;

Take highlights as an example, “have strong organizational ability”, “work actively and optimistic”, “solid foundation, strong learning ability” is another very common situation; It’s a good skill and a good habit to have, but it’s not the right thing to do. Highlight is the ability, expertise, experience, etc., which can make people shine at the moment, avoid using general language, but use detailed language to describe; Taking clear-cut evidence as an example, it is also common to be familiar with AFNetworking, SDWebImage and MJRfresh. These are all third-party libraries that iOS developers are very familiar with, but does this sentence tell you how much you know about them? After reviewing the source code of AFNetworking in three days and encapsulating it into an App network library, the request success rate is 99%. In a word, it reflects “strong learning ability”, “solid foundation”, “familiar with third-party library”, “pay attention to the quality of APP” and so on.

2. Introduce your work experience.

The company, the position, the time — these are the basic elements that can’t be changed too much, so we focus on project introductions and responsibilities.

The introduction of the project is also 1 or 2 sentences, describing its characteristics. A very effective way is to bring the real and general data of the product, such as the number of users, retention, growth and payment, so that the employer can have an intuitive feeling. The description of responsibilities includes two parts, one is what I have paid, the other is what I have gained, and both hope to be clear in no more than two sentences.

3. Finally, add personal basic information.

Include education, age, contact information, etc. You can also add things that have not been mentioned before but can reflect your ability. Three points to pay attention to: data speaking, find bright spots company size, team characteristics refine the language, highlight the key points

Plus: source code reading, technology blog, open source contribution, professional in-depth knowledge, technology sharing, new talent training, etc.

conclusion

In general, there are several optimization directions:

1, discover their own expertise and ability; 2. Prove from multiple dimensions; 3. Summarize and refine your resume;

A bad resume can cost you an interview. A good resume can not only qualify for an interview, but also reflect your attitude and serve as a guide for the interviewer in the interview process. In the end, only solid ability is the cornerstone of a lofty building. My career is still long, and temporary disappointments are the best driving force for progress. I hope this article has been helpful in your job search.
