Recently I am often asked, why work so hard to find, those good background of the title is difficult, and a little amount of Internet companies of hc mostly to only a few, and on the basis of the average life of modern, most people will work at least four hundred and fifty, as a programmer, what go after?

First of all, I will tell you a concept “Odyssey period”, which was also interpreted by Teacher Liang Ning before. Here I will share it with you simply from the perspective of a technical person.

Most people think of life as “childhood, adolescence, adulthood, and old age,” but the longer you look back, there is an “Odyssey” between adolescence and adulthood.

The Odyssey is one of the two most important ancient Greek epics. It tells the story of Odysseus, who goes through life’s ups and downs, difficulties and opportunities on the sea, and finally finds his true home. During the ten years of wandering on the sea, Odysseus actually went through a process of constantly reviewing himself and judging his environment, until he finally confirmed his destiny.

In fact, life is also so, especially for our technical workers, the first ten years of life is particularly important, if you have not experienced the wind and waves, the life will be doubled back to you!

Why ten years? Everybody should be no less to hear such as “35 programmers mid-life crisis”, “the giant fired middle-aged programmer” story, because programmers screening threshold is high, especially in the field of artificial intelligence, the future estimates that at least a master’s degree or above, between 25 to 28 years old, that is to say when mid-30s, you will encounter the most critical point in life, The Matthew effect is very clear.

So I think the first thing to do with all the questions that you’ve asked is to recognize and accept that the setbacks that you have in the first decade of your life are normal and necessary. The earlier you appear, the more you should feel lucky, because the opportunity comes and there will be competition and problems, so how to treat this matter is the most important.

Second, what is the nature of this? The reason why programmers’ midlife crisis seems so serious is also determined by the group of programmers, most of whom are male, who have to take on family and social responsibilities for a long time. The essence is how to maintain a consistent and stable source of income.

As Teacher Liang Ning said, there are only two ways to make money: to become rich through labor and to make good decisions.

Before, some friends realized wealth freedom because of currency speculation, some of them gave up studying for a doctor and chose to travel around the world after becoming rich, some emigrated to explore new horizons in life, and some crazy buying houses in China to increase the value of fixed assets. This kind of people we can not envy, both professional knowledge and luck and courage, belong to god’s love.

Most people make money by working, but there are big differences.

There are a lot of young programmers after graduation to find a right way of labor, such as choosing a stable Internet company, such as entering the research institute, one is the salary that outsiders envy, one is very good welfare. Even if they jump between different enterprises, they still haven’t found their own destiny. Even if they are Ali P9, they are in the “Odyssey” of life before they finish the first ten years of life.

In liang’s words, they complete their own growth loop in the process and then enjoy passive growth.

What are the other people like? I understand it as people who see an opportunity but aren’t sure if it’s the right decision, and they jump into the entrepreneurial path to receive more information and to be pushed to grow under more pressure. If you do well, you can achieve financial freedom in three or four years and then spend the rest of your life searching for it. If you don’t do well, you probably spend the first decade of your life searching for it.

So how do you shorten this 10-year cycle of pain? It’s important to keep exploring new opportunities, to keep getting out of your comfort zone, to keep learning to keep your judgment and decision-making skills high, and when it comes to making the right decision, to keep dying!
