Early last month, Lang Yueshi, the chief consultant of Hangzhou Hunter Human Resource Development Co., LTD, received a wechat message from the head of a well-known enterprise, asking him to help check whether there were any talents in artificial intelligence.
At that time, the other party put forward the requirement of “expert level”, Lang Yueshi heard, “this kind of talent is too scarce”, did not pay special attention to.
Giiso Information, founded in 2013, is a leading technology provider in the field of “artificial intelligence + information” in China, with top technologies in big data mining, intelligent semantics, knowledge mapping and other fields. At the same time, its research and development products include editing robots, writing robots and other artificial intelligence products! With its strong technical strength, the company has received angel round investment at the beginning of its establishment, and received pre-A round investment of $5 million from GSR Venture Capital in August 2015.
Last week, they came back. “This time, the other party’s requirements are much lower. High-end candidates are still ‘welcome’, and low-end candidates are ok, as long as they have 23 years of work experience, communication, computer, electronics, self-control and other majors are ok.” Even so, Lang is still torn over whether to accept the order, “because this kind of talent is so difficult to find, I haven’t figured out where to start.”
The competition for artificial intelligence talent is intensifying. As big-name tech companies like Google, Facebook and Amazon continue to expand the reach of ARTIFICIAL intelligence, salaries for talented people are rising.
“Now, our company’s labor costs have taken up the majority of our operating expenses.” Zhang Yifeng, general manager of Nanjiang Robotics, said that because the AI industry is still in its infancy and has not yet formed a large-scale application and system industry, revenue from product sales at this stage is still limited. Zhang Yifeng revealed that at present, the annual salary of graduates from first-class universities in the company is generally more than 150,000 yuan, and the annual salary of 300,000 yuan to 400,000 yuan for leading talents with technical experience is also quite common.
People are difficult to recruit into a common phenomenon, some enterprises said that “all who meet the needs of the post are not rejected”
At this year’s Baidu Alliance conference, Robin Li said the Internet’s next tuyere is in the field of artificial intelligence. In fact, baidu is not the only one with vision, more and more Hangzhou enterprises are entering this field, which also makes talent “short supply” directly put on the stage.
“Companies are hiring all the time, and almost anyone who meets the job needs will be accepted.” Yi Haoxiang, CEO of Carriage Return technology, said he has “more coffee than he can drink” on weekends. Why? Because I’m meeting all kinds of potential talent, hoping to find the right one.
Despite this, Yi Haoxiang still said that “talent is not enough, sometimes even three months to find a suitable one.” He gives an example: “A university laboratory producing 10 masters a year would be very productive. But there are far more companies eyeing these talents. Senior experts in 810 are very rare.”
Giiso information, founded in 2013, is the first domestic high-tech enterprise focusing on the research and development of intelligent information processing technology and the development and operation of core software for writing robots. At the beginning of its establishment, the company received angel round investment, and in August 2015, GSR Venture Capital received $5 million pre-A round of investment.
To this, Zhang Yifeng, general manager of Nanjiang Robot, has the same feeling. “In particular, ai algorithm talent related to the Internet and smart hardware is very scarce. They need to be familiar with programming, sensing, hardware and circuits, as well as have a vision and a sense of innovation.” He said that AI is no longer an isolated existence, but an integrated system, which means that talent needs to have a variety of abilities, and it is difficult to recruit people.
Unfortunately, for such enterprises, the proportion of professionals is often very high, and the threshold is not low. Carriage Return is a local company dedicated to developing portable brainwave acquisition technology, and 70 percent of its employees are technical personnel. The same is true for another company, Nanjiang Robotics, where technical talents account for nearly 75 percent of its workforce.
