Back in December, Google opened up the Fuchsia project to contributions from developers outside Google. Thanks to a new official Discord server, developers and enthusiasts have a place to gather and talk about the Fuchsia operating system.

Over the past few months, Google’s Fuchsia operating system has grown rapidly from its arcane roots into a surprising public project, running on real devices in the wild. Just last week, a new Fuchsia logo appeared in a logo, indicating that Google is preparing a new brand for the operating system.

As Abdullak shared on the Fuchsia Subreddit, the Fuchsia team has updated its “Participate” page to refer to the project’s official Discord community. As an official community, Fuchsia Discord is managed and moderated by Googlers. As expected, the server uses the new Fuchsia OS logo as its image.

More importantly, it’s made up of members of the Fuchsia team, who are sometimes keen to discuss the inner workings of the project, whether it’s developers who want to contribute their own code or hobbyists who just want to learn more.

In the past, Fuchsia’s discussions have been limited to its set of Google Groups mailing lists and an old-fashioned IRC channel, which has never been an official gathering. Currently, the Discord server only has two main channels, one for discussing Fuchsia and one for the server itself, but there are plans to steadily increase the list of channels to better adapt as the community grows.

Needless to say, it’s exciting to see Google provide this level of community hype for the Fuchsia OPERATING system. As the project officially launches, more developers will start showing interest and want to develop their own applications and projects for Fuchsia, and Discord is a fantastic hub for such discussions.
