One of the hottest events of the week was the Log4j vulnerability, which allows an attacker to remotely take control of a user victim’s server by typing a piece of code into the target, without requiring the user to do anything extra, affecting more than 90% of java-based application platforms. You can also feel the “charm” of this bug up close with Twitter Project 2, and Twitter 1 is a bug detection tool to prevent similar bugs from happening.

In addition to two security-related Twitter projects, this week’s top GitHub projects include the high-performance Rust runtime project, WantWords, a reverse dictionary that gives you a reference when you don’t know what word to use, and Tabby, a terminal simulator with a high level of playability.

The following is an excerpt from GitHub Trending and Hacker News hot post (HN Hot post for short) on weibo @helloGithub. Newly released | | practical and interesting, according to the project classification, the release time release time not more than 14 project will mark the New day, without the mark shows the project release more than half. Due to the limited space in this paper, there are some projects not shown in this paper, please refer to 🌝

1.1 JNDI Injection test tool: JNDI-injection-exploit

Star growth this week: 200+

Jndi-injection-exploit is not a new project. It is a tool that can be used for validation of Fastjson, Jackson, and other related vulnerabilities. As a JNDI Injection Exploit tool, it generates JNDI links and starts back-end related services to detect systems.

2.1 Legend of Zelda ocarina of Time decompilation: oot

Star growth this week: 900+

Oot is a project to decomcompile the Legend of Zelda ocarina of Time. Currently, the project is in a semi-finished state, with major code changes. The project rebuilt the code from Scratch, and used the information found in the game as well as static and dynamic analysis. If you want to learn about decompilation through this project, it is recommended to save your seldai assets first.

2.2 Terminal Simulator: Tabby

Star growth this week: 1,800+

Tabby (formerly Terminus) is a configurable, highly customizable terminal emulator, SSH, and serial client for Windows, macOS, and Linux. It is an alternative to the Windows standard terminals Conhost, PowerShell ISE, PuTTY, and macOS Terminal, but it is not a new shell or a replacement for MinGW and Cygwin. Also, it’s not a lightweight tool, so if you care about memory, consider Conemu or Alacritty.

2.3 Reverse dictionary: WantWords

Star growth this week: 1,000+

WantWords is an open source reverse word query tool of The Natural Language Processing Laboratory (THUNLP) of the Computer Department of Tsinghua University. The reverse dictionary is not a dictionary to search antonyms, but based on the widespread use of network word administrators at present, we fail to find accurate words to express a certain meaning in some scenes. So it allows you to find words that fit the context of what you’re trying to say. You can try the reverse dictionary online: wantwords.thunlp.org/. The following figure shows the project Workflow and the query result.
