In April 2019, I left the company where I had worked for two years. I got an Offer from STATION B before leaving, and left after one month.

At the time, I was working for a company that did Internet of things near Jinke Road in Shanghai. I just joined this company at the beginning of 2017, and I was lucky to catch up with the company’s new business expansion and organizational structure adjustment. In order to provide better and more professional services to the customers of the Internet of cars, the leadership decided to set up a subsidiary with 30 people from the parent company, and I happened to be in the list of 30 people. Within a short period of more than one year, the staff of the subsidiary rapidly expanded to more than 150 people, and I was promoted from an ordinary developer to a r&d supervisor in charge of the back-end r&d of three oems with five or six team members under my command. In nearly one year of docking projects with several automakers and communication with the company’s project managers and sales, I know that to cooperate with such government-backed automakers, the company must have strong capital and strong background support. However, the background of our company is not very strong, and the tens of millions of yuan of the round of financing will soon be spent, and there is no substantial progress in the second round of financing. Although the company is engaged in the Internet of vehicles, it is actually engaged in a single vehicle firmware upgrade (OTA) in the Internet of vehicles, and the technical barrier is not high. At the same time, after more than a year of development, the company’s infrastructure will not have a big change, the new business is not very smooth, there are not many things to develop, we are not very busy. In order to have better development in the future, I chose to leave. At the time of resignation, several leaders talked to me and indicated a raise, but the resignation has been put forward, they will not stay. Although I left, I am still very grateful for the two years here. I met a lot of good friends and had a very happy time. The company is still a very conscientious enterprise, with various benefits, such as domestic travel, foreign travel, physical examination, basketball team…

The interview

At the end of February 2019, I began to prepare for the interview. I spent the weekend reading books and reviewing my previous notes. At the same time, I screened companies on the Internet. Then some companies began to call me to invite me to interview, because the interview needs to ask for leave, this time is more awkward to ask for leave, leave the leadership basically know to interview, so there is no special assurance, I will not ask for leave to interview. And the first step is to HR about a convenient time, and company phone, head of the first round, first to learn about the company’s business, technology, team size, etc., in the process, perhaps because of the company’s business is not what I want to do, the interviewer probably feel technology does not pass, I can also I don’t meet their hiring needs, directly over. It also saves time for both of you. After the phone screening, I finally chose two companies to interview. One is hungry? One is station B. So I asked for a day off and arranged an interview in the morning and afternoon.

Are you hungry after the interview this morning? It’s near the Zhenbei Road subway station in Putuo. I arrived at the office early, not yet at work, waiting on the sofa opposite the big hotpot shaped front desk. I have been chatting with HR on wechat. Half an hour later, a technician came to me for the first round of interviews, which lasted 40 or 50 minutes; The second interview lasted half an hour; The third round lasted about twenty minutes. The technology interviewed for three rounds and felt good. After the interview, the leader asked me to go back and wait for the notice. I didn’t see HR during the whole journey. I won’t go into details about the interview.

In the afternoon, I interviewed station B. When I arrived at B station, I waited for HR to pick me up by the robot in the lobby on the first floor of Building 3 of Guozheng Center in Yangpu. Then HR took me upstairs to the interview conference room and gave me two test questions, one technical and one similar to the civil service strategic examination. The technical section has 10 questions, one fill-in-the blank and nine short answer questions, and examines binary, network protocols, JVM, ConcurrentHashMap, Tomcat tuning, design patterns, distributed theory, and recursive programming. I think the answer is ok, but not particularly good. Then the test questions of similar line policy is to look for rules, also do not know how to answer.

After finishing the test, two technical interviewers came (one was the team leader I later worked for, the other was the department manager). I looked at the answers to the technical questions, talked about why they were answered this way, and the extension of some questions. I also asked some questions about database optimization, Linux commands, caching, design patterns, ELK, kafka, etc. I didn’t think the answers were particularly good. The interview lasted about forty minutes. Then a higher-level interviewer (later the head of my big department) came to talk about career development and planning, and related business conditions of the department, without asking me about technology. I didn’t know much about B station at that time. I only knew that B station was a well-known local Internet company in Shanghai, and the only label I knew at that time was Quadratic yuan. The leader opened the home page of the App of station B, pointed to the button of the game in the upper right corner and said that clicking in would be the business of our department. It turned out that they were the game division. The leader told me that more than 70% of the revenue of station B came from games, which was the core business. This was also one of the main reasons why I finally went to Station B.

After chatting with the big leader, HR finally talked about salary with me, and pressed the price!! Is this going to be done, I thought to myself, feeling the interview is not so good. After that, HR told me that they would inform me next week. I went back.

To get the offer

In the first half of the second week, HR at station B told me that the interview had passed and the salary was less than what I expected. I said that I could not accept the salary. HR said that he would feed back to the leader and see what the leader meant. The next day, he called me and said that the leader agreed to raise the offer, and he would send the offer if there was no problem. My side agreed. I was glad to get the mail. It was safe.

Evaluate these two interviews, hungry? I feel the surface is ok, but was rejected in the end. I never knew what it was. I didn’t see HR during the whole interview. In the end, I didn’t receive any feedback from HR, which made me unable to make jokes. I felt that such a big company’s practice was not professional. Any company should give the interviewer feedback on the results of the interview, whether they are hired or not. This is a common practice in the industry and shows respect to the interviewer.

In the interview of station B, the overall feeling was not particularly good, but I finally gave the offer. B station of the interview difficulty degree is good, not that kind of deep, very pay attention to the bottom. But there is scope.

At 10 o ‘clock in the evening of the third day after I got the offer, I suddenly received a phone call from my former leader asking about my current situation, which foreshadowed my resignation from STATION B. He said his team was hiring and he had just seen my resume on the Boss job offer. I said the status quo. In order to maintain the operation of the company, the boss chose to lay off employees. I was one of the first ones to be laid off because I had not become a full-time employee for two months after joining the company. Although he asked his boss if he could keep me, his boss demanded that they all be laid off. After I left in March 2017, the company went through two rounds of layoffs before closing in the first half of 2018. After the company went bankrupt, he went to collect money from the bar with one of the HR staff (we were alumni of Hunan University in 2015 and were very close). He called me three months ago and asked me how I was doing and whether I wanted to change my job. I said THAT I had no plan to change my job for the time being. At that time, I was already the technical leader of the customer department of The Group. There’s an opening right now, and I happened to see my resume. I said I had already got the offer, but he said it didn’t matter, you should go to station B first, and if you don’t feel good, you can also come to collect the money. I said let’s see.

Before entering station B, I took a quick trip to Lijiang and Dali to relax myself and get ready for my next job. After returning from the trip, I moved to a residential area in Yangpu about two kilometers away from B station one week before I entered the job. Prepare for the later onboarding.

In the day

The entry of station B requires a full day and a tight schedule, which is not as easy as a whole day’s work. But the overall arrangement is good. HR is very sweet.

We will arrive at STATION B in the morning, still next to the robot in the lobby of the first floor. When all the employees arrive today, HR will give us access cards and take us to the training room.

I have to fill in all kinds of materials for entry, which is the most I have ever seen. Some information that has nothing to do with entry also need to be filled in, as if they are collecting my personal information. HR little sister will give everyone a login manual, this operation is very considerate.

After the induction, it was time for the trial session of new recruits. They were divided into groups according to the number of new recruits on the day. Each group was given a task, which was to find the relevant landmark places in the building, and then take group photos in these places with head caps. Then post the photo to the group. The team that finishes the task first wins and gets a little gift for winning. This operation is still good, can let the new person quickly familiar with the floor and orientation of the company.

After the trial session, someone from each department will come and take their group friends to lunch. After lunch, it’s basically time for the afternoon.

In the afternoon, there will be various departments to train the new recruits, such as HR, finance, legal affairs, etc., to train various knowledge. During the period, we will also watch the video of the famous UP master of B station, and invite relevant celebrities from B station to make a guest appearance.

After an intense day of training, it’s almost time to leave. At the end of the training, everyone is given an orientation package, the Bilibili pillows above, big, medium and small. It is said that when you leave, you will get a long shape pillow.

After the training, I went to my own department to find my own position and prepared for the formal work tomorrow. Then he went back. A full day.

Official work

Before joining the company, the head of the department will ask you what system you are used to and ask other departments to install it. Pick it up right after you start.

Working hours at station B. 10 a.m., 7 p.m.

I’m in the game division. The overall atmosphere of the game Department was rather depressed. There were five of us in the team plus the team leader, responsible for the maintenance of the game platform. Arrive at the office at 10 am, which is supposed to be agile development. In the morning, each team has a standing meeting around 10:30, and everyone talks about what they did yesterday and what they are going to do today. Then began the day’s intense work.

At noon, the group made an appointment to have lunch, lunch to solve their own, go back downstairs nearby eat something, and then come back to have a simple rest, began the afternoon work. There are vending machines on the floor, the drinks are relatively cheap, you have to buy your own. There’s a water dispenser next to the vending machine, so bring your own cup to fill.

Afternoon work hours are long, there is no smoking room, smoking can only go to the smoking area on the first floor. There’s a Rosen in the back smoking area on the first floor, and it looks like it’ll be cheaper for staff to swipe. I don’t remember.

There will be a free dinner around 8:30, lunch box, four dishes, two meat and two vegetables, a fruit, banana or orange. Our group usually gets off work from 9:00 to 9:30 after lunch.

The situation of our group is that the group leader receives the task and will assign the following four developers to us. The group leader and the developers will evaluate the workload together and arrange the test after the development is completed. The test team was on the same floor as us, but not in the same area, so they often had to go there to communicate.

The company uses the same technology as Spring. Many projects are older technologies, and Spring Boot only exists in a small number of systems. Redis is commonly used. ELK is used to query logs. Instead of using microservices, the calls between services use self-encapsulated HTTP. The persistence layer uses Mybatis. The high availability method of many service services is to access the domain name of the first service through the domain name. If the access succeeds, the service continues to access the domain name. If the access fails, the secondary domain name is used to access the domain name again. This is the case in our department, but not in other departments.

Station B was previously said to be a quadratic element, but I could not feel the quadratic element in the game department, although I am not a quadratic element fan. From time to time, there would be some famous UP masters in the company, but they would go to other departments, and we could only watch or hear about them in the group.

It’s true that you can bring pets to work at Station B. At the gate on the first floor, people often take their pets to work in the morning.

departure

During the period of about a month in station B, there have been a lot of demands and the schedule is very full. Basically, before the current version is finished, the functions of the later two versions will come out, which is the normal situation of our group. Every day to do is to add a button in the management background, add a small function, and then change the App back-end interface, let the App end effect. Basically doing CRUD stuff. As you can see, even if I was still doing the same thing a year later, spending a lot of time and energy on CRUD, it would be difficult to improve my skills much.

So I ended up leaving. Before leaving, I went to collect money bar and talked with the former leader. Then I directly talked with the hr leader of collect money bar and talked about the salary. Then I decided to go there. In the collecting bar, it mainly deals with the needs of group customers and provides better services for big customers including payment. The business of the department includes payment, gift cards, invoices, etc.

In fact, during the period of B station, I kept in touch with hr who collected money from the bar, that is, my alumni of Hu University, and was ready to leave if I felt inappropriate.

After going back, I talked with the leader of STATION B, and the next day I handed over and left. That’s what I do. I do it.

In this way, I ended a month in B station time.

The new job

Now I have been in charge of the invoice business of the cashier bar for more than a year, and the public service of the department, such as payment module, secret key management, notification system, and the research and use of some new technologies, etc.

The r&d department now has more than twenty people. The project is product-oriented and the schedule is not very tight. There is an early meeting at 9:30 every morning to report the progress of the project, problems encountered and today’s arrangement, etc. The department also uses many technologies, such as Spring Boot, Mybatis, Spring Data JPA, Spring Batch, Spring Intergration, Spring Gateway, MQTT, Table Store, Kafka, Rocket MQ, etc. Internal service calls use their own encapsulated RPC framework.

There is a cash bar store inside the company, where you can buy snacks and drinks at a slightly cheaper price than outside. Since the beginning of this year, I have come to the company before 9 o ‘clock in the morning, there is buffet breakfast (although I have never eaten once), there are 9.9 noodles at noon and evening, which is still good. The Store also displays a variety of cash register machines, audio and other products.

Next to the store, there is a coffee bar. If you bring your own cup, the price is 3 yuan per cup, which is a good benefit for coffee lovers.

The management is relatively flat. We go to work at 9:00 in the morning and finish work at 6:00 in the evening. There is a little flexibility in working time. There’s a time window for company releases, and we usually do it at 10 p.m. The company uses tacks to clock in.

I arrived last year just in time for the company’s sixth anniversary at the Mercedes-Benz Center.

After the order
