We welcome you to learn about the 7 must-see updates that Flutter has released this year on Google I/O: Learn more about Flutter by watching the 7 Must-see videos here.
Flutter 2.2
The first, of course, is the new stable version of Flutter 2.2. In this latest version of Flutter, we focus on improving the quality and efficiency of Flutter. Please read this article or learn more about Flutter via the update overview video for Flutter 2.2.
Air security is enabled by default
Since Flutter 2.2, all new projects will have air security enabled by default. Please read the Chinese documentation for detailed steps to migrate to air Security.
Desktop Update
To make Flutter desktop more stable, we have introduced a number of improvements, including development tools and widgets, to help developers build better platform adaptation applications.
Developer tool DevTools
The DevTools team has been working to build a tool that can easily track all Flutter and Dart application errors.
Once you import the Dart developer package, you have access to a number of cool debugging, profiling, and tracing tools, including PostEvent. DevTools picks and empowers the in-memory timeline. These tool improvements are designed to improve your development efficiency by making it easier to find out when a particular widget was created.
Payment and profit
To help you monetize your app more easily, we have made some improvements to the Google Mobile Ads SDK: For example, air security and adaptive banner ads were included, new payment plug-ins supported by Google Pay and Apple Pay were launched, and in-app payment plug-ins In App Purchase were put into production from beta. Please visit the official documentation for details.
Application examples of Flutter
We are also constantly updating to enable you to use more of the Google API and related services in Flutter and Dart applications. One example is the official launch of Dart on Google Cloud Run, where you can containerize a Dart application with a small amount of code and then get smaller binaries that can Run on the back end.
We’ve also partnered with Firebase to launch the I/O photo booth, with the source code and codelab, so you’re welcome to try it out.
