To enable the Mac to read and write NTFS disks, download the disk management software – Tuxera NTFS for Mac is a good choice. However, during the software installation, a message is displayed indicating that the kernel extension is not approved and the software cannot be installed normally. You need to manually approve Mac kernel extensions, but you don’t know where or how to set them up.

Let’s take a look at where to set up kernel extensions for MAC when installing Tuxera Ntfs for MAC, and how to set up kernel extensions for successful software installation.

First, set the position

Download the Tuxera Ntfs for MAC installation package. In the left item bar, we can clearly know the step of the current installation process. Click “Continue” step by step according to the installation wizard and enter “Kernel Extension” after filling in “Product key” (see Figure 2).

The Kernel Extension page is displayed. Click Turn on Security preferences to install the software.

2. Setting mode

Opening the “Security preferences” will lead to the “privacy” interface, we need to enter the “general” location to set. Enter the “General” interface, click the “Lock” icon in the lower left corner, and enter the Apple ID and password in the pop-up window to set the interface.

In the “Allow apps to download from the following location” area, check “App Store and Approved Developers” and click “Allow System software load from developer Tuxera Inc” and the installation is successful (Figure 5).

Then, click “Restart” to use the software smoothly.

To sum up, when installing Tuxera Ntfs for MAC, fill in “Product Key” and the “Kernel Extension” screen will be displayed, but you need to manually approve this screen. Click “Open Security Preference setting” to enter the interface of “Security Preference Setting”. Enter Apple ID and password to unlock the interface. Check “App Store and Approved Developers” and click “System Software Load from Developer Tuxera Inc” to complete the kernel extension. Then click “Reboot”.
