Yesterday, two tech news stories broke, one about GitHub blocking Russia and one about Oracle suspending all operations in Russia. One is the world’s largest open source software community, the other is the world’s largest database software vendor. It seems the giant’s move is starting to lead other tech companies to line up to join the Russian blockade.
As recently as yesterday afternoon, some of the open source technology community also announced their support for Ukraine and started fundraising, such as:
However, DD took a look at the Node.js website this morning and has taken it down.
On top of that, React got the most exposure yesterday with 183K stars.
React’s GitHub warehouse issue also went down in a flash after the React website posted a message supporting Ukraine. I won’t show it here because it’s so shocking. But if you look at the history issue, this one is worth thinking about (it’s not as polarizing and boring as the others) :
