Windows10 Docker Desktop installation

Installing Docker on Windows no longer requires installing the VIRTUAL machine, then installing Linux on the virtual machine, and finally installing Docker on the Linux system of the virtual machine. The appearance of Docker for Windows makes it very easy to use Docker on Windows system. If the system is under Win10, Docker Toolbox needs to be installed. This article only introduces the installation of Docker Desktop in Win10 environment.

Requirements for the operating system

  • Windows 10 64-bit: Pro, Enterprise or Education(Build 15063 or later)
  • Hyper-v and container Windows capabilities must be enabled

Running Client Hyper-V successfully on Windows 10 requires the following hardware prerequisites:

  • 4 gb of system RAM
  • You must enable BIOS-level hardware virtualization support in your BIOS Settings

Start Hyper-V in Windows

Before you can install Docker Desktop, your Windows system needs to have Hyper-V on.

Open the control panel and find programs and function options.

Click “Enable or Disable Windows Features”

Just check hyper-V.

Configuration mirror accelerator

Next, we configure the Image accelerator for Docker. We right click the Docker icon, select Settings, Registry mirrors in Daemon, install the eg example above, add the image accelerator, and then click Apply. At this point, the Docker Desktop is starting, and after a while, the startup is complete.
