Based on open source and public data, we use Tableau, a data visualization analysis tool, to explore the data related to the Chinese Olympic Games. Firstly, we filter and export the data related to Chinese athletes from the open source data according to the nationality (Team) field.

Create a new table in Hive based on predefined data analysis dimensions and insert exported offline data into the new table.

Source data are preprocessed for fields such as Gender, Age, Year, Sport and Medal, including null value filling, integration of synonymous fields and elimination of invalid fields.

Statistics show that a total of 30 athletes have participated in more than three Olympic Games. ** Wang Yifu, the “Godfather of Chinese shooting”, has participated in the most Olympic Games, taking part in a total of six games and winning two gold MEDALS.
Looking at sports events, we find that shooting athletes have the largest number of “going to the Olympics” for many times. This reflects the fact that shooters have longer careers than athletes in other Olympic sports.

Twenty-one athletes have won at least three gold MEDALS, and four Chinese athletes are tied for the most Olympic gold MEDALS
By analyzing the number of gold MEDALS won by each athlete, we found that there are 21 Chinese athletes who have won at least three Olympic gold MEDALS by 2021 in Tokyo.
The athletes with the most gold MEDALS are Wu Minxia, Chen Ruolin, Zou Kai and Ma Long, who have all won five Olympic gold MEDALS. It is worth mentioning that Ma Long, the captain of China Table Tennis team, won two gold MEDALS in men’s table tennis singles and men’s team in the Tokyo Olympic Games this year, and won five gold MEDALS in total, successfully occupying the Top position in the Olympic gold medal list of Chinese athletes.
