With the previous ARTICLES in the K8S series almost complete, I will now use a few articles to cover routine cluster maintenance.

Deploy the Web UI management cluster: Dashboard
Updates the Label of a resource object
For example, add, delete and change the Label of Pod.
Feature:
kubectl label pod pod-name key=value
Copy the code
Modification:
kubelet label pod pod-name key=value --overwrite
Copy the code
delete
kubelet label pod pod-name label_key
Copy the code
Namespace: Cluster environment sharing and isolation
Different workgroups can work in the same K8S cluster. K8s distinguishes different workgroups by setting namespace and Context so that they can work in the same K8S cluster
(1) Define the Context
You need to set up a Context for each workgroup, the runtime, which belongs to a namespace
The kubectl context set-context command defines the context and places the context in a namespace
For example, create a context named context-test1 and bind the namespace context-text
Create a cluster name:
kubectl config set-cluster kubernetes --server=https://localhost:8080
kubectl config set-context context-test1 --namespace=context-text --cluster=kubernetes
Copy the code
Use the kubectl config view command to view the defined Context.
kubectl config view
Copy the code
Kubectl config: ${HOME}/. Kube: ${HOME}/. Kube: ${HOME}/. Kube: ${HOME}/. So you can also set the Context by manually editing the file.
(2) Set up a workgroup to work in a specific Context
Run the following command to set the current operating environment
kubectl config use-context context-test1
Copy the code
All subsequent operations will be done in the namespace bound to the context-test1 environment.
Deploying Cluster Monitoring
Metrics Server is used to provide Core Metrics, including CPU and memory usage for Node and Pod. Monitoring of other Custom Metrics is done by components such as Prometheus.
Metrics Server monitors CPU and memory resource usage of PODS and nodes.
The Metrics Server in the deployment is completed, will be sent to you by Kubernetes core API Server “/ apis/Metrics. K8s. IO/v1beta1” path to provide Pod and monitoring data of the Node. The Metrics Server source code and deployment configuration are available in the GitHub codebase (github.com/kubernetes-…
First, deploy the Metrics Server instance,

The yamL file needs to be modified. Add the following:
If the above content is not added, the startup will report an error
- – kubelet – preferred – address – types to support IP communications, InternalIP (default [Hostname, InternalDNS InternalIP, ExternalDNS, ExternalIP])
- –kubelet-insecure- TLS Ignores certificate errors
Ensure that metrics-Server’s Pod is started successfully after deployment:
kubectl -n kube-system get pod -l k8s-app=metrics-server
Copy the code
Use the kubectl top Nodes and kubectl top Pods commands to monitor CPU and memory resource usage:
Metrics Server data can also be used by HPA controllers to enable automatic Pod scaling based on CPU usage or memory usage.
Deploy the Web UI management cluster
The Kubernetes-Dashboard provides common cluster management functions, such as application deployment, resource object management, container log query, and system monitoring. To display system resource usage on the page, you need to deploy Metrics Server.
Through rawgit.com/kubernetes/… Dashboard’s YAML configuration file.

To access the Dashboard page, open a browser and enter the IP address of a Node and the 9090 port number, such as https://cnode-1:9090/#/login
Choose Token login mode,
Obtain the Token with the following command:
kubectl -n kube-system describe secret $(kubectl -n kube-system get secret | grep kubernetes-dashboard-admin-token | awk '{print $1}')Copy the code
After login, you can see all the information about the cluster (including the management of adding, deleting, modifying, and querying resources) :
