Build utopia!

Minecraft’s founder, Markus Persson, grew up poor and moved his family to Stockholm when he was seven. Also, his father bought him a 128 home computer, and Persson subscribed to a computer magazine with some code on it.

From then on, he began to try to make some interesting little games. Along the way, he discovered that if he changed some code, the game would change or crash. ‘That’s how I learned to write code,’ he says. ‘I know Basic, Pascal, C, C++, Java and ActionScript. My favorite programming language is Java and C++.’

Exploring the world from games, curiosity, and code.

In 2009, Persson wrote the original version of Minecraft alone in his apartment in Stockholm (also known as “home of indie games”), and it took him about a week.

What makes Minecraft unique is that it has a community of players with extraordinary staying power and vitality that is unmatched by any other game of its kind. Minecraft is a sandbox game, and while the graphics are relatively simple, they are lego-like, with trees and trees that can be changed by the player.

Play is not in conflict with learning! Minecraft was launched in 2009, and it wasn’t long before teachers introduced the game into the classroom, designing history lessons, teaching Chinese, exploring math, physics, computer science, and more. In September 2014, Microsoft bought Minecraft developer Mojang for $2.5 billion, and in January 2016, it acquired MinecraftEdu, an educational version developed by Teacher Gaming LLC.

Within the Minecraft community, the building teams that work day and night contribute to the overall atmosphere of Minecraft. On some video sites in China, we often see a lot of Minecraft construction videos, which are made by the construction teams (some of them individuals). Most of them are just students, working on huge construction projects in their spare time.

In order to equip students with the skills to excel in the digital age, Minecraft Education Edition is designed for an educational environment. By bringing the creative and immersive environment of Minecraft into the classroom, providing K12 educators with standard content across disciplines and classroom features, and providing students with an intrusive STEAM learning environment that encourages collaboration and creativity, exploring the mysteries of engineering, history and many other disciplines in an entertaining way. And help students improve their problem-solving skills.

Currently, Jingdong cloud has helped launch Minecraft Education Edition, which provides the learning of Python, JavaScript, MakeCode, Tynker and other programming languages.

These languages are also chosen specifically for the education of children of the right age, so that students can learn through a block-like visual process.

One of the things you see most praised about Minecraft is openness, openness, openness. Technically open, never set the rules down by writing some code, developing a rough framework, and then tweaking it. Minecraft started out as a slanted, isometric view game, and was eventually tweaked to create countless different “worlds” as players built them.

Mode is also open, it does not set any fixed mode or have any specific meter. On the one hand, try to involve the player in the design of the game and ask them to make suggestions about the game’s graphics or features. Sometimes, users will pick out bugs you already have or tell you what’s going to happen. On the other hand, it’s easy to add a little inspiration that pops up every now and then.

Minecraft Education edition does not go against this principle. It gives a lot of room for learning and for students to explore.

Perhaps because of his childhood, Persson knows both the joys of being immersed in utopia and the pains of growing up. Minecraft’s Education edition is more like a silent wish to build a utopia that is friendly and open to learning, exploration, and difference for kids before they grow up.
