A colleague of mine, John Burton, blogged at the end of December 2017: Explaining SAP’s Portfolio of “CRM Services” Related Products Explaining SAP’s Portfolio of “CRM Services” Related Products

https://blogs.sap.com/2017/12/27/explaining-saps-portfolio-of-crm-related-products/

Based on my experience in working with Chinese customers and partners, the most common problems, which John mentioned in his blog, are the following three CRM-related products/modules:

  • SAP CRM on premise
  • S/4 HANA for Customer Management
  • SAP Hybris Cloud for Customer

Can you tell a name from a name? I happen to have been fortunate enough to work on all three product/module development departments, so we can talk about them.

When I graduated from college in 2007 and entered SAP Chengdu, there was a saying in job-seeking circles that the R&D centers of large foreign companies in China were doing marginal work and playing a role of soy sauce.

Other foreign companies in China I don’t know, but in terms of Szechwan SAP Chengdu, whether these three CRM products/module development team, or established Szechwan in recent one or two years Chengdu cloud-based SAP’s new product research and development team, no matter from the percentage of the number of team development of global team, or from the development of the importance of the module, Can be said to play a crucial role in the whole product development system, there is no role of soy sauce.

SAP CRM on premise

I translated the following from John’s original text:

SAP CRM on Premise is perhaps the best known and most widely used of SAP’s many products. Thousands of customers from all industries around the world have chosen to run their businesses on SAP CRM on Premise.”

SAP CRM on Premise is not as well known as Tencent, Alibaba and Baidu’s consumer-to-consumer products, but in fact, the lives of Chinese people are closely related to SAP CRM on Premise. Turn on the TV to see CCTV show every day, every day in the morning drink mengniu brand milk, drink of the farmer mountain spring water, daily I knock this article use the lenovo laptop, to build a house in south China with heavy machinery equipment providers – domestic engineering machinery sector ranked first zoomlion, there are many Chinese companies, These businesses all run on SAP CRM on Premise.

You can find a list of industries supported by SAP CRM on Premise in SAP’s official help document, as shown below:

“The overall technology trend in the software industry today is indeed towards cloud and SaaS(software and services) architectures, but on the other hand, there are some enterprises and industries that still prefer on-premise solutions due to the specific nature of their business. SAP has crafted products for both of these very different technology architectures. SAP continues to maintain and enhance its existing CRM on Premise solution as it launches its new cloud-based offerings.”

Jerry’s note:

The latest SAP CRM on Premise release is 7.0 EHP4. You can view the specific new features of each support package in the What’s New section of the official help documentation.

CRM on Premise team of SAP Chengdu was established in 2012. This team has been responsible for the maintenance and continuous development of a large number of CRM modules, including CRM core material master data module, organizational structure module, content management module, call center and social media solution module, as well as some industrial solutions. Become a vital part of SAP CRM global development system.

S/4HANA for Customer Management

Sometimes referred to simply as THE CRM Add-on within SAP, the new module will be available On February 28, 2018 and will continue to be developed over the next few years. The solution is actually an integral part of S/4 HANA, providing sales and service capabilities to customers who are already using SAP ERP, but not SAP CRM on Premise. Of course, this solution is also a good choice for existing S/4 HANA customers who want to try out some of the “CRM” features in S/4 HANA.

However, for customers already using SAP CRM on Premise who want to consolidate and simplify their enterprise system deployment architecture, they can also consider migrating from SAP CRM on Premise to S/4HANA for Customer Management.”

Members of the S/4HANA for Customer Management development team in SAP Chengdu include CRM business experts from other companies, technical experts from other DEVELOPMENT departments of SAP, old people like me who have been working in SAP since graduation, and of course, some just graduated from college. Fresh blood with strong interest in enterprise application development.

As the development team of SAP CRM on Premise material master data, this team also shouldered the development task of material master data in S/4HANA for Customer Management, as well as other development tasks closely related to Service.

I also mentioned in my other wechat article “Jerry’s 2017, Programming and Swimming “that I spent three months in SAP headquarters in 2017, working on the prototype development of the underlying data model of S/4HANA for Customer Management.

SAP Hybris Cloud for Customer

“SAP’s next generation cloud-based sales and services solution, a multi-tenant SaaS solution, is designed to be ‘Mobile First’. “The solution therefore runs on PCS and mobile devices, including tablets and smartphones, as announced on SAP’s website.”

Like SAP CRM on Premise, C4C(which we internally like to call C4C) has an extremely high level of appearance and the ability to change at any time.

Although the Chengdu C4C development team was established in the second half of 2017, everyone quickly integrated into the global C4C development family. With the responsibility of bringing C4C’s standard functions to the Chinese local market, we all worked with passion and energy.

After listening to the introduction above, if you are interested in S/4HANA for Customer Management and SAP Hybris Cloud for Customer, and want to be part of SAP Chengdu development team, Please keep an eye out for recent information on SAP’s recruitment website.
